Hmmm, a 1/32 scale shell fits close on a 1/29 scale frame. Yeah, I guess it’s like O scale…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/public/album_photo/87/bd/01/1bacb_580f.jpg?c=1516)

I need a special shoe horn to help this:(http://www.largescalecentral.com/public/album_photo/a6/be/01/1bbe9_c48b.jpg?c=ae11)

Looking good Joe, even if the hood angle if off just a tad bit (Just kidding)

I’m thinking that you mean the slope, which is a bit too much.
or are you talking about the nose’s cut angles?
I had to guess about the slope from a computer drawing that lacked details. When it was glued, then cut, and re-glued, it ended up a bit more than I had planned. Sometimes the eye sees better than a ruler!
Working on some type of grilles for it.

Hmmm… some Alaska-custom-lettered rolling stock is on Ebay right now…

It’s looking good. Are you going to cut down a fuel tank to make the 2200 gallon version?

I’d like to know how many tank sizes were available? It appears there were at least two? that I’d refer to as a small and a large one. The proto photo that I have shows it had the larger one. I’m not sure how many gallons that one is?
I have stalled on this project as I’m doing something else and the cooling section was going in the wrong direction. I got some bad advice that it looked like the top of a GP15 which I got a photo of and had already made a model of.
Then, I came across an actual photo of the top of the cooling on the MP15AC which looks way different. So I have to scrap the original cooling section and start over.
I got a K-line GP that I’m thinking of using most of the usable parts for this build.

I know of two sizes of fuel tank. Short (2200gal) and Really Short (1500gal).
The radiator section has a wire-mesh grating over the screens. On the Prototypes I am looking at, the lower screen is nearly completely transparent.
I am just starting my research on these guys. I think the biggest trick will be the radiator section.

Looking good so far

Well I should get back at it. I got help from Mark’s pic and now Bob C sent me some great info and more pics. Every time I leave the forum there’s something to draw me back. I guess I have to take the good with the bad.

Some of us are here to see what others are building, learn from others and help when we can.

Unlike some who come to brag and bash

that front pilot frame doesn’t look scratch, what’s it from? If it is scratch, you should show step by step how you done did it

Oh and when you build one for me i’d prefer this paint job

Jeff’s mask are easy to use and work good. Thanks RCJ!!

Mark, I just saw your question. That’s a spare Aristo dash 9 pilot just for looks. I made my own which are not done yet.

Your build looks really good, thanks for the update

Pilots have killed me in the past to do, they are hard to do from scratch (taking a structural drag load)

Started doing mine on the 3d printer, much easier for me

WOW! Joe that looks great! Glad I could be of assistance. Can’t wait to see the completed unit pulling a freight.
