Hi all. I have just signed up to LSC although I have been reading the forums for some time. I also belong to a couple of other large scale forums although I don’t post much. I first started with trains as a teenager. I had several HO layouts until life and the realities of raising a family put them on the backburner. With all the kids gone I got back into HO about 10 years ago and a friend introduced me to large scale about 3 years ago. It was very appealing mostly because of the size. I still have a HO layout in the basement for winter, and a growing outdoor large scale railroad for summer.
My favourite part of the hobby is scratchbuilding. It doesn’t matter what, rolling stock, buildings, bridges or whatever. I have a small but well equipped workshop and love to create. I have a Bachmann Connie and a K27. Purchased rolling stock is mostly from Bachmann but I have built some myself, boxcars, flatcars, and a caboose. My current project is a complete passenger train from the plans in Garden Railways including building the trucks.
I have learned alot from reading in these forums and am sure there is lots more to learn. Occasionally I may even have something to contribute.

Ron Spencer said:Welcome Ron. It sounds to me that you already have something to contribute. We'd love to see pictures of some of the models you've created. LSC includes free picture space, just click on the MyFiles link in the message editor. Somewhere there is an FAQ on how to use it. Or if you prefer, pictures hosted elsewhere can be posted by simply including the URL to the photo in your post.

Ron,
I’m really sorry but we already have our quota for the week of new member. Would it be alright for you to be classified as an experienced member that has been surfing here for a long time and just decided to start posting? The cost is the same and you won’t have to go through the traditional initiation. Oh, never mind it is already Sunday somewhere and officially the next week, so Welcome Aboard. You are Officially the first new member of next week.
Any examples of your work? It is really easy to post here and the Freight Shed can’t be beat.
Hi, Ron.
Welcome.
I think you are talking about Ted Stinson’s plan sheets in the middle of the old issues:
http://sidestreet.info/railways/plans.html
Which plan numbers will you use? What scale?
I look forward to seeing your progress.
Sincerely,
Joe Satnik
Edit: Add Ted’s name.
Sorry, I don’t have pictures posted anywhere, but someday when I figure it out. I am not very computer savvy.
Joe, yes I am using the pull out plans from Ted Stinson. The cars are plan 55 and the trucks plan 53.
I plan on two coachs from the plans and then a combine and an observation car, modifiying the plans as needed. Everything I build is in 1:20.3, or for the Canadians, 15mm.
Welcome aboard! Always happy to have another scratch-builder in the group. I haven’t scratched any rolling stock yet (though I plan to eventually), but I have created all my bridges, trestles and structures from scratch. To me that’s the best part of the hobby. There’s just something special about creating something out of nothing, and ending up with something that is uniquely your own.
Welcome to LSC!
For those of you who asked for pics, I hope this works. The first is a train of all scratchbuilt rolling stock.

If this works I will also post the few construction photos of the boxcars under the rolling stock heading. Enjoy
Nice work!!!

Thanks Ron - The photos and your creations look great. One technical note - you don’t need the IMG tags on your photos.
