Angry Beaver Logging Railway Micro

What about that decorative moss stuff florists use.

That decorative moss stuff is basically the same as railroad lichen available at hobby shops. I have some but it’s getting old and dry.

I think I will be looking at a lot of spices at the Dollar Store, something has to look like scale pine needles

look at caraway. and some of the spicemixes for pizza should do as well.

Dried Rosemary looks like scale pine needles. Also, dried lichen can be resurrected by soaking it in a little glycerine.

Hey,

This last weekend I learned how to make the most awesome burnt out cedar stumps using toilet paper roles and Durham putty. If i can convince my friend Dick Whitney to let me scan the write up and put it on her I will do so. Or at the very least see if he will let me share it individually. This would look great on your little logging layout.

Edited to include link to the forum discussing these. Thanks to Dick Whitney for sharing.

Picked up some ground cover at the Dollar Stores, ground oregano, ground rosemary thyme and Italian seasoning, if nothing else this is going to be the best smelling layout ever

This is going to be a real pizza layout! Got pepperoni?

Ok Vic, the light just went on in my head. Have you ever thought about doing a pizza that had live plants on it? Granted you have to keep it near a window in the house, but doesn’t everyone want a window railroad?

I am interested to see what you do with a different ecosystem than your normal desert. Looking good.

Angry beaver type plants. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)

HEHEHE…that is so wrong Todd but it is natural!

I can picture it now. Vic can make a say 4’ diameter acrylic tube. Then build a pizza layout that fits inside. Live pants inside with a nice grow light (no I am not talking about a pot farm RR) a tight cover that provides plenty of humidity and a a little lizard. Then he could have a live biosphere with a Godzilla as the star of his live pizza layout.

Live pants?

Sorry guys, no space for something like that. I had in mind something outdoors, a small zen rock garden layout but alas no space for it for the time being.

Shawn maybe… I was thinking down the line to try and line the wood base with bark of some kind. And replace the handles with Adirondack wood style ones.

That’s a ways off though, I’m more concerned with deciding how to attack the forest floor, all the pics I’m looking at show a massive amount of deadfall, needles, small undergrowth, etc. and almost every surface that can hold something has something growing out of it. bit different from my desert scenery I’m used to.

That will look great for handles. As for the forest floor just covering it with anything. crumble up leaves sticks and some soil. Thatshould give you what you need for a forest floor. If your doing east coast thick lush and thick (shut up Rooster)

Those handles look like hitchin’ posts. You could tie up a horse to it while running to help disguise its purpose if used in the upright position.

Scott

I started putting down the Italian seasoning ground cover, its looks pretty good and smells wonderful!
