Love your new Avatar, Boomer!
He looks younger that you Lou!
Welcome aboard Devon. It’s nice to know that someone besides myself even knows about the Coeur d’ Alene RR & Navigational Com. I have several passenger cars lettered and I’m working on their #4 engine, the only “New” one purchased for the railroad and the last one before the Northern Pacific took over.
There are quite a few of us on LCS that belong to the Inland Northwest Garden Railroad Society that Steve Featherkile mentioned. We meet monthly at a members home and dues are only 20.00 a year.
I live in Dalton Gardens just North of Coeur d’ Alene. PM me and we could get together for coffee sometime.

Lucky you didn’t get named Austin, then, eh? Or Somerset…
Westminster would have been embarassing, but not as bad as Maxi.

Careful TAC, my grandson resembles that remark. Not to mention my first car was an AUSTIN of ENGLAND. Limey is in my veins.

Nice work, some inspiration there. I love MOW equipment and you have some nice pieces.
Welcome to the general madness, Devon. Try not to take Boomer too seriously.
Impressive work!
Now you have met me. Nothing worse can happen to you here.
Chuck, yea. I find it amazing that model railroaders don’t know what railroads ran where they live.
Devon, welcome.

My problem is I know every railroad that ran in my area and its hard to pick one to model. I wish I was a bit more naïve. There are some very unique little logging and mining railroads that all would be fun to model.

That is VERY difficult in my area as I’m still finding them!
Welcome Devon,
Rooster, yes but some people, model railroad people, don’t even look. I dunno, maybe they just aren’t curious.

I was torn between the WI&M and the Spokane Falls Northern, with its seven mile branch line, the Deer Park Northern. There was more info on the WI&M, so I went with that. Maybe I could alternate days…
Awesome build, Devon!

If I ever decide to stray over to the wide rails I would model the Idaho & Washington Northern. This is a great little turn of the century railroad that ran from Rathdrum to Metaline Falls. The Spirit lake facility rivaled many much larger railroads. And it even had a branch that ran up Spirit Lake with a Shey. The line still exists between Newport and metaline falls. The whole thing was taken over by the Milwaukee and was connected down in Post Falls. In fact in Post Falls there used to exist a three way crossing that saw the UP, BN and Milwaukee all crossing each other in the same spot at Junction Idaho.
Thanks everyone on the warm welcome and the encouragement on the build. Next time you see it it will look different. It is coming apart tonight and the boiler is getting re-done. I don’t like the fact that I made the boiler and smoke box out of a straight pipe. So I am wrapping the boiler in a 1/16 cork wrap and then a .010 plastic. Then new bands. That will give it a proper jacket and the “step” that occurs between the smoke box and jacket. I will move the whole thing over to the modeling thread.
Devon. Glad to have you amongst our merry crew. The Build Challenge starts on Jan 1st. Standby for a surprise in the build.
Great train people abound, and even a couple of ol’ sore heads, but you will figure them out.
