I’m already planning next years Drag n Brag area. Better signage, etc.
We really need table coverings!
Yea, there are some nice open-back table covers for things like trade shows. Ive added that to my list.
Also, the time saver should be front and center next time IMHO. A large group joined me at the Steaming Tender for dinner after the show and none of them knew it was there.
Dan that now belongs to Amherst
Richard, it was great meeting you and chatting at dinner with you.
I’m glad to hear Amherst accepted the timesaver! No matter where it’s parked, it’ll be a great asset.
And from what John S. said about the kids showing greater attention to the large scale layouts, I wouldn’t be surprise if they use it in their all-scale show, right? Which is all that much more exposure for the larger scale trains hobby.
LSC might need its own Timesaver in the future.
What about an Amtrak Timesaver ?
too many derailments !!!
If you want to SAVE time, don’t travel on Amtrak!
Nobody would ever get there on time
Might be late getting there , but the ride, the scenery and the food make up for a minor time difference.
Besides on one takes a train if they are in a hurry or on a tight schedule, well maybe one time then they learn!
Riding the rails this August Phx to Chicago
good idea! - on a 15 yard long table.
I’m in favor, as long as we can have a switch-splitting contest.
Or we could go the other way, and use shorty cars and my Davenport as the locomotive.
Funny, that was my first thought! Great minds and all that.
I looked quite a bit for a shortie Amtrak car but the closest I could find was this…
what size? the one at springfield was 13ft. long one 5 and 2 4ft apx.3ft wide. what size are you thinking?

In the late 1980s, a friend of mine was doing electrical engineering work in metropolitan New York. He preferred Amtrak to flying because it saved him time. The train got him from Richmond, VA to New York, NY quicker because it arrived downtown, saving him a prolonged taxi ride.
Regarding the Timesaver, you could also use Bachmann’s largescale Thomas (British) freight wagons and do the Inglenook Sidings. The version I built for OO scale would fit the back of a 1981 Subaru GL wagon. Thomas, Percy, or one of the three axle diesels could serve as motive power.

It was a GREAT show. I was there as part of the CCTGG and the BTOC. Seeing many friends that I had not seen in 3 or 4 years and getting to see many twice in 4 months! I spent way more than I wanted to but buy it when you see it. There were 2 large collections that were for sale. This probably cut into dealer sales. Will be back for the January show and April. In January you just never know what you will find in any scale or what the prices will be.
