A Station / Freighthouse Build

SWEET!!!

Beautiful station.
Have the cedar shakes got you cross eyed yet ?
I have station kit I’ve been putting off building for several years because I know I have to shingle the roof
Ralph

Nice! Nice! Nice! Randy! I’m glad you chose that paint scheme too. Really sets it off.

What kind of glue are you using for the shingles? Will it adhere to the wood thats been varnished?

SWEET!

Great work Randy!! Now get some leds in der for lighting. Regal

Wait!!..you lied to me Randy I see no flashing or moisture shield!

Oh, and that station is beautiful. Nice work

Thanks Guys for all the compliments, it means alot coming from this group of experienced LSer’s.
Bob, I use ‘acrylic latex caulk plus silicone’ made by Dap called Alex Plus to adhere the shingles. sticks very well to the varnished surface and has some flex to it to allow the shingles to expand and contract with the weather conditions.
Rooster, there is enough caulking under the shingles to act as flashing and weather guard, I am on my second tube already.
Jon, I picked up 6 strings of 15 LED’s lights on clearance last month @ $1.47 ea. They run on 3 AA batteries. I got over a week of continous operation on 1 set of batteries. So later I plan to put one string in the station.

@Ron Spencer…sorry I did not answer to your question before. Yes we are always up for visitors. If your travelling in a RV we got room to park it in the driveway or there are plenty of motels within blocks of here. The beer is always chilled and the BBQ is always ready throughout the summer.

Damn me…that’s a fine looking model of a depot. Five stars for that one!!

A small progress up-date.

And also painted the tool/handcar shed and got some roofing on it.

Well then I guess you need to look in the lamb's mouth :)

Randy, that is awesome. I really need to get up your way so that I can ask about a zillion questions.
Ron

That’s a dandy Randy!
