Nice progress shots Randy, thank you.

Thanks guys. Now has anyone had luck with using that anti-slip tread tape for a roofing material? I’d really like to use cedar shingles but alot of work, trying to think of something less labor intensive.

edit to remove picture placed in wrong area

Randy, I have used that tape on a few buildings. It is very sticky and has held well for the few years it has been out. (No winters, tho.)
I also use corrugated aluminum and shakes for roofing. Those have been held on with silicone and a tiny brad.

I’ll be up this summer to pick up my station.

John this station would not work on your RR, it’s a CPR design, James J. Hill would turn over in his grave if he seen a CPR Station on American soil.

I used cedar shakes and just a contious small bead of exterior caulking on my engine house build from 2 years ago and they seem to be holding and also weather proof.

Have you noticed any shrinkage from the caulking Randy?

BTW, Excellent building. It shows you have some great talent in cabinet making.

Randy, it’s looking great… nice work…

Outstanding!
I love the base !!

Randy,
I used the anti-slip tread tape on my largest building, but I cut it into scale 4’ strips. I have had some issues where it’s peeling around the edges, but I just put some black E-6000 down and that seems to have taken care of it.

@ Jake I have not seen any shrinkage withe the caulking. I used exterior acrylic 25 year.
Thanks Bruce for the tip.

Nice work, that base looks really good and should hold up very well.

Beautiful Randy !

Randy, that is absolutely beautiful. I am really interested in your techniques. Am going to make a concerted effort to come up your way this summer. Hope you are open to visitors.
Ron

Magnificent Randy. Very impressive looking structure.

Randy I hope those are not my counter tops you are working on? LOL

Randy that station is a beauty. I hate to say it but cedar shingles would look really nice on that. I think it would be worth the work. You still have a few months before the weather gets nice. Dont be a wimp

Sweet!

Randy, the tape holds well, though, like John, I've not tried it through a winter. I sealed my roof with marine epoxy, then sprayed the roof with (I think) 3M spray adhesive, just because.

Once the tape went down, it was down. I was afraid that I would pull up the wood, if I tried to reposition the tape.

My only complaint was the cost. That tape is very spendy. Look for the stuff that is rated for outdoor/marine use. We used it aboard Navy ships. The Bos’n’s Mates had to use a pneumatic chipper to remove it.
