Looks good Ken. Will you need to relocate the throws for clearance? Now that you’re getting some track on it I’m able to get a better perspective on the overall size

That’s something I’ll have to check. They may need to be moved which is easy enough.

They always seem to be in the way no matter what side you put them on. And I usually make them a little longer since I keep the K-27 in mind.
Dang Ken! You’re making some serious progress. Looking real good. Did you just hand lay those two switches? What wood are the ties? Looks like you are going to have the hard part out of the way before it gets too hot for that kind of work.
Yes, Randy, most of the switches on my layout were scratch built. Those 2 I did over the winter along with 2 others. The wood I use for the ties is Spanish Cedar. It’s available at the local hardwood lumber dealer in Oxford. They still need a coat of boiled linseed oil on them. Steve, If everything goes as planned it will be 2 separate areas. One side is the Delores yard and the other side will be the Interchange, so you,ll be working either one or the other, but not both at the same time (that’s the theory, anyway). Actually it’s only about an eighth but who’s countin and still a long way to go. Another 5’ and the layout will be about ground level and only 2’ wide so it’ll be easy to step over.
Where that longest board is on the right, it tapers down to 2’ wide and passes to the left of the bush. It’ll only be a foot off the ground at this point where I’m standing.
Looks good. I would suggest that you clear the grass from under the concrete base blocks as it well deterioate and then change the grade on the table. Also, is the grid material plastic or metal? Just remember that it is your back that will get in the end while you are ‘working on the railroad’!
