Large Scale Central

A Raised Road Bed: A build log for the RGS raised layout.

A couple of thunderstorms the last 2 days, has the dirt settled down some. Figgered I’d get some more sides on.

At last, sides are done.

And a set of steps to get on the inside of the layout.

Now, more dirt…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

That is freaking awesome, Ken…I want to sit in that lawn chair under the tree with my drawing paper and ink, watching trains and smoking my meerschaum and drinking pop, for a whole week, day and night.

Looks can be deceiving. Just don’t look too close at what’s under the layout…

Spent some time today starting on the repairs to the TT pit.

and a first coat of paint to the side sills.

As built track plan for Porter:

I was kinda hoping you would use the Saab upper bearing cap on the T.T rebuild. You know I have a fetish for recycling junk like that!

It ain’t done yet Roos, so that may happen. I’ll have to see about the difficulty in changing it around. I keep eyeballing them and to figure out the best way to mount them and still make the TT removable.

Funny looking napkin.

Had to use a paper towel, ran out of napkins…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I guess “match books” are just really “old school”. Looking exceptional, Ken. Love to see how it is coming together and enjoy the evolution of your railroad.

We’re gettin there, Ric, we’re gettin there…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Got a PU load of dirt to spread now that the weather has cooled down.

Must be one of them E-napkins the kids are using these days, torn out of a face book er sumfin.

1 PU truck load of dirt…done!

The white square is the Depot platform.

A couple of rains to get it settled, then probably 1 more truck load to fill in the low spots.

What was left over I used to fill in the yard in Delores.

Painting the sills is next on the “to-do” list…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Looks fantastic, Ken… What a beautiful re-build…

I’ll second that Andy. Nice work Ken. Now to get a day without rain or snow(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
