Cool !
The way the jet stream has been moving I’ll expect it soon then!

Thanks Rick and Richard for chiming in. I appreciate the advice from those who have mastered this method…
A good point to bring up. The gap between the boards is only 5 1/2" so I didn’t expect too much sag. It has sagged a bit once dirt was added on top, about a 1/4" at most, if that, but I expected some. I was also very generous when attaching it to the support boards. I’m on my 3rd box of 1250 count 1/2" staples so far and the neighbors are probably glad winter is here and they don’t have to listen to the steady “thump, thump, thump” of the staple gun …(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
I have had to add more dirt but that was due to settling. And I haven’t noticed any sag in the PVC supporting boards. I’ve also added rocks in spots, but I try to place them where they have a supporting board under them and they usually are placed at the edge of the module.

With the top screen it was an either/or thing. The alum. or vinyl just seemed to me to be easier to work with. And tell you the truth, I haven’t noticed any dirt leaking through it, especially since we’ve had quite a bit of rain.
Glad I could be of service…(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
My method for the raised sections was 1/2" hardware cloth over 2x4’s on 12 inch centers. Then the plastic window screen was laid over that. I have decent sag between each 2x4 and did have to screw down 1" thick deck board under the areas that had track. I’ve only added crusher fines to date, and every time I tap the screen I can hear a few falling through to the leaves below. In another area I used landscaping fabric and I don’t hear any falling through there. I could see dirt kind of plugging up the screen but the crusher fines do keep making their way through. It may help once I back fill the exposed areas with dirt. Sorry no pie served with this advice. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)
Will this impending doom in the northeast be the first major snow test? What is predicted for your area?
What’s being predicted is anywhere from 5" to 5’ depending on who you listen to. And you’d think they were giving stuff away at every gas station and grocery store. It’ll be a snow test, alright. We’ll see what actually falls out of the sky…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
The sky is falling?
Plow snow or no balls ! RGS had a rotary if my memory serves my correctly!
Hell even Shawn know’s how to plow stuff hard (or possibly soft)!

Here’s a view of the street from my drive. Like I said anywhere from 5" to 5’…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
And the layout.
The bench there come to about mid thigh.
Not much snow under the pine trees.
And not even enough to run a plow on top of the layout.
Lost a few roofs on some of the buildings. And Bergs ended up down near the old layout. With 30 to 40 mph gusts it was like a wind tunnel under those branches, with a drift up to the bottom of the yard in Delores.
You got lucky with the snow!
Ken,
These last pictures really do show the progress you’ve made. Very interesting and certainly looks like quality work. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Ric.
I did manage yesterday to get all the roofs put back where they belong and found Bergs in the rose bushes near the old layout. The snow’s melted quite bit the last few days.
Your snow should be gone soon and then you can get back to work. Rooster has been taking my Grammar 101 course online. i think he started to do well.
It’s down quite a bit already, Shawn. I shoveled a path next to the yard behind the shed, in anticipation of some milder weather.
Good luck teaching him anything…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Okay, I have to ask because I have issues in my head…
How come you didn’t level the cement block in the lower right corner of this picture?
