Large Scale Central

A new challenge?

Anyone seen this?

http://www.gaugemaster.com/Tgauge.html

I figure you can coax some N-scale models around a 12" diameter circle. T-scale is roughly 1/3 the size of N. 4" diameter curves??

So here’s the challenge. What kind of T-scale layout could you build on a G-scale flat car?

Challenge ?
In my case the big challenge would be finding the train without a microscope
Ralph

And who will be the first to build a working model train layout inside a G scale building?
George

Be careful of protozoa on the track.

They do pretty well with N gauge with a layout of just over 2 inches across - http://carendt.com/scrapbook/page80a/index.html#toptwo

I saw a photo of a G-scale layout that was 6"x6" http://www.gn15.info/castaway-caseys-the-naughton-atoll-railway/

I was thinking though, that a G-scale flatcar could be maybe 4.5" x 18". It might be possible to sqeeze in an oval of track with sidings, plus mountains, bridges, tunnels, etc.

The other possibility, similar to George’s idea, is to have a G-scale garden railway in the backyard of one of your G-scale houses. In 1/20.3 scale, the layout would a scale 1/22.5 (near enough).

I once thought of using N or Z scale to model a ride-on live steam line, but T has so much more potential.

Kevin, a member of our club here in the St Louis area, has a “scale” ride on train, on one of his modules, situated in a park-like atmosphere on the “Club” layout… He used “N” scale, and it looks great…

Never-ever model a scale your dog can accidentally swallow

I wish I could find a US outlet for this stuff…

Scroll almost all the way to the bottom on this link.
A model railroad built in a small store front using a CMS kit.
Pretty neat.

The video makes it look like slot car racing, but then the Japanese commuter trains are about that fast. Giddyup go like hell…then stop on a dime…been der dun dat and packed in like sardines.

Looked at several tiny Japanese things. Amazing.

Brings to mind a line from an old movie: “Sony, because Americans are just too tall.”

yeah a new ride on train for ANTS!!!hee hee The Regal

Freakin’ thing looks like a cockroach running around that styrofoam riser track! Do they go any slower that that?

Pod.

Oh yes they do, all you need is INSTALL A DECODER! Perfect speed control! :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Tim, no, that’s not the model I was talking about… I’m not sure I have a picture of the modeule I am talking about…

That looks like it’s actually ON-30 stuff in your picture… THe on on our club layout is actually, N-Scale equipment, usually an F-3, with gondola’s behind it, with kids sitting in the gondola’s… Maybe an adult sitting on a boxcar, operating the engine… Inside the loop of N-scale track, was a tree trunk with a treehouse in it, and a ““Petting Zoo”” area…

I checked my files, and I don’t have a picture that shows it clearly at all, sorry…

I looked, too, and nothing clear. Just one little picture with the track showing in the corner.

Tom Ruby do you have pictures of the ride on railroad on the GGRRC modular layout?

I guess we could ask Bob.

Ric, I just emailed him…

Andy,

You do know that guy that has those trains that won’t run and only goes roundy round. He’s got a copy of that picture that everyone wants to see. But no, we have to bother the President.
