Large Scale Central

A Modified and rescaled B'Mann tank car

I need a few tank cars to work with the era I’m modeling. The transition period of steam to diesel. I have a few of the B’Mann tank on flat cars but needed a more modern look. My decision on this one was a narrow frame car. First up was to shorten the tank

And a comparison shot

With the tank sized i could start with the build.

The saddle/bolster above was modified by cutting off the ends to further narrow the final frame. center sill.

The tank once dry was wrapped with an .010 styrene skin and the frame work started. Frame.

And starting on the walk way.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Transition to diesel, dont do it Hollywood. Im going to loose sleep for a week now. Way too much diesel talk going on latley.

He already did it!
Besides steam is just a fad …diesels are all the rage these days
…:)…

Hollywood…
It’s looking good so far.
I guess Shawn never made it to your house, or he’d have seen the Diesels running

Shawn, you must have brought this on yourself. I don't seem to recall anything but the above train being here. Of course my ability to recall more vivid details of the incident in question may improve with the application of $$$$$ delivered in a plain envelope. :) :) ;)

 To have a real train, you need two things: A caboose at the back, and it darn well ought to be red, darn it, and a steam locomotive in front, “Big and black and smokin’ steam and screamin’ at the wheels, bigger’n anything there is, 'least that the way she feels.” * Anything else is just fooling around. :stuck_out_tongue:

Everybody knows that.

*From the song: “Texas, 1947”; the best version is Johnny Cash’s, and if you haven’t heard it, trainlovers, you’re missing a real treat!

Awesome!

Nice work so far Dave.

I’m looking into doing a similar conversion to my Bachmann tanks. But to narrow gauge UTLX frameless. There was a custom built one on eBay recently, but the biding got a little too high so I passed. Probably cheaper to make my own anyway.

Actually I will admit it here and have in the past but what the hell does that have to do with Hollywoods tanks car build! Talk about thread hijack on the first page! ...:)...
