So I finally started my grist mill over the Labor Day holiday weekend. The foundation is complete, but only two sides have siding installed so far. Thanks for the info and inspiration Ken!
Ya dun good, Mike. I like those colors.
I’m jealous…
Thanks Ken, It’s going together OK for a slacker.
You have nothin’ to be jealous about!
I’m gonna declare the grist mill done until I get back to the railroad in Florida in a couple weeks and can build a proper support for the sluice in it’s rightful place.
Thanks again Ken for all your help and inspiration!
…grinning…
That turned out real nice… nice work…
WOW! that looks great, nice work Mike.
Thanks guys! Ken taught me everything I know! LOL!
This is my first scratch-built building from the ground up. I’m happy that Ken showed me the way!
Can’t wait to see it in place. good job!..
BTW, whose windows are you using on that?
Stoneworks windows. Part of the reason it took me so long to start was waiting for materials from Oak Ridge Hobbies. I don’t like to knock anyone, but I had ordered all the evergreen and precision products from them in May, and parts came in three different shipments over 2 months. The Precision clear door and window sheet never came after many calls to them saying they were working on it with their supplier.
I should have bought the clear windows and door from Ozark (would have been cheaper to use the window sheet), but I figured I would order windows with the waterwheel and sluice from Stoneworks.
The weird thing was I called Ozark and he said he told Oakridge that they couldn’t carry them, and wondered why they are still taking orders on Precision Products!
I usually just order the Precision Products stuff directly from Ozark since they carry the full line. Most places don’t, or they usually don’t have the particular item I’m looking for. When I ordered the sluice and waterwheel, I had thought about ordering their windows too, but since I already had the PP windows I just went that route.
So, now that you have one building under your belt, and saw how easy it was to make, I expect to see more…
More more more! Send me some more ideas and/or plans, LOL!
Looks great Mike. What did you use for roof shingles?
The shingles are Precision Products 12021 wood shake. It is a 3D styrene veneer panel, 15" square.

Nice build Mike. You can always use an engine house if you’re looking for a second build.
or pick one…

There’s a build log on here somewhere for all those buildings labeled plus a few others in the picture…
Very nice Mike!
