Large Scale Central

A great tribute

To a way of life that is fast disappearing.

Well if all it does is piss people off we will just delete it

Rick

Loved it.

Had to log in to Facebook to get it, but a good video! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

No facebook, so no pictures or story or whatever it is.

Facebook is good for one thing only. It makes Mark Zuckerberg billions of dollars. That’s it. Nothing more.

I was not meaning to whine, but many of us don’t want to log into facebook, nor even have a facebook account to read this forum.

when the topic does not even tell you what the link (you cannot reach) is about, it’s, well, irritating…

Regards, Greg

I don’t facebook, myspace nor tweet. So I don’t get to see whatever it was neither.

If it was just posted on Fesses Book, then it probably wasn’t worth bothering with…I don’t use any of those things either and seem to be able to communicate well…if I wanted that crap, I’d just use the Telephone first…

[rant on]

I don’t do any of those, so I wonder how I manage to stay alive in this world, because some people can’t! If they don’t see it on F8bk, it isn’t real!

[rant off]

Mr Marty

I personally enjoy your posts and have the utmost respect for you as a modeler! However I don’t do any of the social networking site/stuff either. I’m positive it wasn’t a “crap” posting because you don’t post crap! I would have loved to have seen what you posted and hoping perhaps it is available in another format?

Not being a smartass but just a thought. Could this thread be an Oxymoron 5yrs from now ?

I totally agree with what Mr. Russell (?) said.

These comments are not personal.

Mr. Marty, I couldn’t see your fine offering either, I lack in the social graces, why advertise it?

I did see the Ironicalness of it all though. Imagine lamenting the past by the device that is killing it…

Too bad it’s not on a platform for all.

John

I am going to chime in here only to make a point. I don’t do Facebook, Linkedin, MySpace, or any of the other popular social media, like most folks here. However, when someone posts a link to a Facebook page with train related content, I don’t go making a point to ‘pee in their Cherios’. Can someone please explain why it is so many folks have to bash someone just because they don’t follow your way of doing things. I just pass over the post and go on to the next one.

Can we please just pass them by and stop doing your best to make someone feel belittled. Rick, I would ask you to put the link back in your OP for those who do use social media, they deserve the right to view it. Those of us who choose not to participate are the ones loosing out, and for me that is my choice.

Hey Rick,

I do Facebook and I really appreciate what you posted! Most of the comments on here were totally inappropriate…just my opinion. Keep posting the “good stuff” Buddy AND keep using Facebook to do it. Most of these folks don’t know what they’re missing. Also just my opinion.

Here is the link again for those who are not into social media. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Thanks Joe!

Maybe in the future, people will do what Joe did, NOT force you to log into another site, just make the direct link.

Greg,

I totally agree with you on your comment in this post. But the remaining comments were STILL inappropriate. Rick contributes some great posts here AND they are always interesting.

And maybe in the future people will be a little more polite and ask, nicely, and not act all high and mighty and like Bob said, piss in someone’s cheerio’s. But, some people just can’t help themselves. I enjoyed it Rick, Thanks for posting it!

Neat video even though I don’t model that era I’m a history junkie and love the old pics in the video. Some of my favorite pics are the “Pool Hall and Confectionery” (them guys went in there and got all cracked up on sugar and shot pool)! I would love to know what one women is holding 1:45 into the video. The one is a violin but have no clue what the other item is. A very interesting thing I noticed at 2:12 into it. They look like the are lined up for payday and the picture says “Scotia” which makes me wonder if perhaps that is where the scotia moulding came from.

Thanks for sharing!
