Large Scale Central

25 years of Large Scale Central

On June 30th, 2025, we will mark 25 years of Large Scale Central. LSC was set up a few days before that, a direct result of the Terrible Tantrum and The Great Schism, but it took a few days for the domain registration to take place.

Some of you have been here since the beginning, and many of you for a dozen or more years. Just looking at the recent statistics of the last 16 people that have logged in, and how long they have been a member.

We’ve changed software packages four times over the years, and with the exception of the first change, I’ve kept every thread. There is a treasure trove of information here, all supplied by our members. And all of it is free. There is no paywalled information here, though many of you have been incredibly generous over the years, and a handful of you are consistent with donations, either monthly or yearly. We even have two people that donate that are not members, but like what we do and have been financial supporters for a number of years.

I’ve made an incredible number of friends here, and we’ve lost several over the years. You all are an incredibly talented group of people and I’m honored that you call LSC home.

Congratulations. You have done an excellent job of maintaining the site technically and socially. It’s a pleasure to be here way too often then I should be! I’ll be here 20 years in December. I think it was Ric Golding that dragged me here from MLS.

I’ve been here for a while…can’t remember how long, but I guess I could be called… “One of the old farts”, seasoned like wine by age…!!
It would be nice to see a complete list of all the people who have touched base here, over the years, if it could be available.
So many people have shared friendship, knowledge, and care on this web page…it has been a privilege to meet them all here…
Possibly, some time soon, we could arrange a “Reunion” of all the “Members” still living; maybe a Zoom, or Google Meet could be arranged…

Damn, I’m getting old! :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks for putting up with us all these years, Bob.

For a few years at York, I dragged a camera and dry erase board with me. If I can find the pix, I will post here a “Rogues Gallery” of those I caught.

Big congratulations, Bob. With all the ups and downs in the industry and other forums, you’ve kept LSC steady, up to date, and fair to its members. Fantastic job!

As an anniversary fundraiser, how about auctioning off a few of these:

I’ve been here since Shad sold MLS and that whole thing went down. It’s been a fun ride so far.

Bob, thank you for allowing us in your living room each day. LSC is the best place to be on the internet and the internet is kinda big . I’ve made many friends here and enjoy my visits each and every day.

Just think, no LSC and I wouldn’t have all these years to badger Rooster.

Same here! And for Vic as well, I think.

If this were a TV series, and this were Season 5, you two would have to exchange animal identities.

I’m sure Bob saw quite the uptick in membership after that.

I was already here since 06, but yeah when MLS new owners deleted our photo archives I put down permanent roots here. I still look over there every now and then, but is mostly a live steamer forum these days, hence my calling it MyLiveSteam.

So I THINK I have only been here about 10 years, one of the first places I found to learn about this great hobby. Thanks BD for all you do.

with only 15 years, i’m one of the new guys.
and i hope to stay another 5 or 10 years.
the best virtual dictatorship i’ve ever been in.

Bob,

You have created and maintained a site where the craftstick creators and the scale artisans can inspire each other and learn from one another. That is incredible enough. That is also a site where we feel safe enough to share how our kids and grandkids engaging in the hobby is near miraculous.

Thank you for creating something I consider my online club where I can converse with folks Kid-zilla calls "our train friends.

To you the honors, Sir!

On Behalf of Clan Mueller,
Eric

I like this place! I believe I’ve been here since 2012. That makes me a “newcomer”. :grinning:
