2015 Official Spring Run Thread

Joe, So silly.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Little River Rail Bus #2 is stepping out over Nelson’s Gap trestle with a bunch of dog tired loggers and railroad workers. So much snoozing going on only the motorman is enjoying the green on green color display. Well I think he is still awake???

Doc Tom

Great pics Tom, nice to see some green. I can finely see my layout.

Thanks Ron. I am glad winter is over. It is great to be out soaking up some rays and working on the rail road. Hopefully it won’t be too long and you are out working on your pike too.

Tom

Spring operations have finally started here on the Pittsburgh and Castle Shannon railroad. And as always, the first train to run on the railroad is the Bachmann Reading set. The Bachmann 10 wheeler has a high stack to show me what plants need trimmed, and that locomotive can run on the worst track-work I can throw at it. Of course, I just did a 2 week stint lowering most of the railroad 2 inches and making sure grades and elevations were proper, so the track work is good. For now.

Right away I hit a snag…actually a tree.

I knew the year was coming when that maple would have to go. Every year it gets closer to the tracks. This year was the year it had to go.

After that was taken care of, the train progressed across Saw Mil Run Bridge

and up to the summit.

The train did stall out once at the summit. It turned out that a Hillman railclamp was no longer providing power to the stock rail on the switch. So that clamp was replaced with a Split Jaw, and then the train trundled around my backyard for over an hour without any problems.

Thanks David, nice pics. Got to run a sparky my self today. Its nice to see the weather turning for the good.

first run of the season. I had a little whelp from my youngest

Good pics guys!

I really like the last one John!

Wow, that weathering is impressive!

Some great Pics… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

The snow is almost gone(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif) thought it would never go.

The last bit was easily cleared with the broom as I swept off the twigs and pine cones.

I was Happy to be out of the shop running trains in the sun!

Here “Morning Star” Rolls over a Cattle Pass with plenty of snow still in the field.

Great pictures guys. I can finally join in on the photo threads. Today we did our first test run on the new layout. I promised my little one he could run his diesel so I couldn’t let im down. Layouts looks more like a desert at the moment.

Nice pics all.

Today I filled out the first 2 bad order forms of the season. First was for the jumper under the frog of an Aristo switch not working, big surprise there. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)The second was for my Aristo critter, she is running rather jerky to start, but then starts running fine. I think she is due for a clean and lube. Either way its nice to finally be able to play outside.

Yes - I agree!

I bad ordered a car and a mainline switch today. The car got it’s wheels changed out and the switch was pulled for repair in the shop which puts the main out of service East of Indian Hill Junction until further notice. I’ll probably pull quite a bit of track this year to cut down the roadbed and re-level.

Excellent!

Even I got to run one…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Looking very Bart-esque. I just hope you don’t keep changing designs/scales/etc. like Bart! I really need to get off the ground too.

I gotta do it because I can!

I got a bit smaller since then, but the knees are worse. The weirdest thing is when I work on my hands and knees I feel top heavy; like I’m going to tip over. Sucks to get old. I’m looking forward to when you hit 50 Rooster (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)
