2015 ECLSTS

Had an AWESOME time. Was very impressed by the number of vendors and the layouts. Got some great ideas. However, I had my ‘kid in the candy store’ experience when I saw, and ultimately bought, a set of LGB B&O streamliners. I have been looking all over the world for this set and I couldn’t believe a vendor had the set.

Yep, Terry, I have your stuff, message me your addy and I’ll get it in the mail to you .

Thanks for watching out for me. I knew if I set that box down I’d forget it and of course I set it down.

Had a great time seeing everyone again. I am already looking forward to next year.

Its absolutely amazing! 5 minutes ago it was Thursday afternoon and we were arriving at the Fairgrounds. Its now Sunday morning, its all over. Happens like that every year. Absolutely a great weekend. Saw lots of old friends, made some new ones and I don’t think I pissed anyone off too bad.

Kids from earlier years have stopped by the Timesaver to give it another shot. Some like Jason, that first showed up when he was probably 3 or 4 and now stands taller then me, is beginning studies to become something in the engineering field, even stopped by to say “Hey”. Some new young ones picked up the throttle and an event happened, that has never happened before. Two guys at different times, one named Bryan and I’m sorry I don’t remember the other, asked if they could learn what was going on and how to play the puzzle of the switching yard.

Been doing this for 12 years and this is the first time that an adult has asked to run the throttle. The young kids have no concerns, I want to do it. The older kids, those above 18, have to much ego, pride or something. I’ve offered and they just say I’m watching for now. But this time a couple of guys came back and said, “Can you show me what you are doing”. Spent a fantastic hour with Bryan talking and playing with trains, talking operations theory and how to design a small layout.

What a great weekend! I think the “Drag and Brag” went well. Modelers constantly amaze and humble me with their talent and ability to create.

How about those signs and “THE ALCOVE” banner Martin made for all of us?

Another 20 years or so and this all may get boring.

Thank you all.

Not a chance !! Thanks again Ric, for all your hospitality and everything you do to promote our hobby and fine group of modeling friends.

Interesting bunch of folks at the D&B for sure, nice to meet some of you, still debating that rooster and macaroni guy and clark was off the hook… But seriously great bunch of people

The other bunch of great people include:

Bob for putting up with our crap, please support the site by clicking a Google add every no and again, he gets a kick back

Accucraft - Mike was awesome, thanks so much for your support and inspiring advice on moving forward with Kirkville Locomotive Works, the same shout out to the folks at HLW, and The Gal Line, Stan the Man…

Now for the Bytch rant:

To the Ro folks, if you have an item with a 40 price on it you can’t expect someone to be happy when you tell them at the cash register that “Well i’m not going to sell it to you for that price at this event, you have to buy the b unit for 60 more to get that price” Seriously UNprofessional, just makes me want to make my own and then share the plans for free just to slap you back in the face…

Would have been nice to talk to Scott because a lot of parts i’d like to use (motor blocks) are vital on his success, however that’s kinda of hard to hope all this will go well when this is your booth for 60% of the show

even Navin next door was shaking his head when people were asking about where Polks was

Seriously, (sounds) like the car dealerships of Calgary, Canada that CTV>W5 did a show on last night.

Great show but it seemed a little smaller. Great job on the alcove Ric. My wife Julie and I were really happy to meet you in person.

Haven’t seen any comments about the Show Car and who bought one or two. The ‘Old Dutch’ car did look great in the pics I saw when it was first published.

I didn’t see them on display at the show souvenir table. Pre-order only?

I enjoyed the show. Bought very little, but that was the plan. I really don’t need anything. I think next year I’ll change my plan and come down Thursday and leave Saturday afternoon. Two years in a row I’ve wondered why I’m sitting in a hotel room Saturday night.

I enjoyed seeing everyone and meeting a few new faces. Drag-N-Brag was great fun as always.

Well, leaving Saturday morning was not the best idea.

We woke up to a blizzard.

I 83 Southbound was backed up for a couple of miles due to an accident, and we saw a couple more accidents in the northbound lanes; traffic was really backed up. Driving was a tad treacherous, but the roads did clear up once we got to Maryland. Pretty slow on the interstate up until then, but it was sunny and dry when we got home.

Thank you John for your comment about Show Cars. As far as I understood the red ‘Old Export’ car was obtainable from Star Hobby prior to the Show, the ‘Old Dutch’ one was a Show only car. However things may have changed and as I am an ocean away I can’t say.

I left about 630am Saturday, and it was snowing hard, but by the time I got to Reaading I had run ahead of the storm. The storm would catch up to me when I turned north (287, and 684), but Id out-run it again when I turned back east. The only bad stretch I had was 222 before Reading was heavy blowing snow.

We had a great time at the show and D&B, spent my train money for the season I think… we’ll see (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Bought my first live steam and some ore cars from The Train Department, should be fun trying to assemble the Regner Lumber Jack!

And my wife stocked up on figures (just plain Folk had a great setup!).

We spent Saturday playing (and buying) at Kitchen Kettle Village and headed home Sunday morning.

But man was it incredibly cold their this year!! last year I was wearing shorts and t-shirts, this year it was a good thing we packed the heavy sweatshirts and jackets!

I asked at the Show Table, and they said that they had both cars for sale. So they obviously ordered extra of the “Pre-order” cars.

Talked with Harry for a while about previous show cars, and he seemed just fine.

I will post the pictures I took later both the “mug shots” and some of around the show. Also “the Rooster” was seen around the show.

Bob - better look in your truck, I thought I saw the Rooster hop inside for a ride East!

Guys, they had both cars there at the table, along with tee shirts and a few of last year’s show cars. I bought an Old Export car at the show. I really didn’t need another car, but I always buy at least one show car. I am glad that they weren’t all sold through pre-ordering, like I was lead to believe would happen. I went with the idea that if they were going 100% pre-ordering, then I just wasn’t going to have a show car. In my mind, feeble as it is, a show car should be sold at the, well, show.

I will just have to go to the D&B next year. That was a blast.

Just got a report on the ECLSTS 2015. It was shared with me and I’ll share it with you.
