Large Scale Central

2009 edition of the American Invasion of Friends

Got home early, but still haven’t had time to do pictures.

We had a great time, and the OVGRS put in a lot of work to make this another “Best One Ever”!

Glad to hear of your safe voyage home, Bruce. Thanks for the company on a great weekend.

Later in the day we all gather to discuss a very successful operating session. Like Ric, I too, failed to take many pictures. Hopefully others took up the slack. Many thanks to all who were involved in a very fun filled weekend.

Arrived home about 5:30 PM tonight after a 2-night stop-over in the Adirondacks for some R&R before returning to work tomorrow. Over 1500 miles on the car this trip, and somewhere around 1200 of that was pulling the camper. Only one minor incident on the road: ran over some debris on the Newburg-Beacon bridge and was concerned about the camper tires. We pulled over to check, but luckily no damage. Got home to find a 6" tree limb had fallen within a foot of our boat. The new cover was covered with branches, but only very minor damage - so it was a lucky day all around.

Many thanks to Fred for hosting; Jan and Ric for doing a wonderful job planning and putting on the meals, and to the entire OVGRS gang for some great operating sessions. Special thanks to Colin and Paul for being my conductor during the ops.

It was great to see everyone again. I don’t know what next year will bring, but it sure would be nice to do it again.

Thanks for the reports and photos , looks like a really great time !

…they keep suggesting that I am the “Host”. I guess the name applies in some ways, BUT… I happen to live here, and a great bunch of people, from all walks of life, finding pleasure in HAVING FUN; exersizing their talents; sharing ideas; meeting other great people, and contributing in so many ways to this “Unorganized” bit of trackwork; that WE ALL are hosts.
As the supposed one that gets branded with the host title; all I can say is that I have great fun too, just to see so many people getting together, to operate trains, chew the fat and enjoy the terrific food that Jan prepares.
I reserve the right to thank you all, for allowing me to experience all the fun too.

It seems that a date has been already set for next year's "Invasion. It is: starting on Thursday, July 15th, and running through Sunday, July 18th, 2010.

See you all next year.

We are home and starting to unpack. Pictures will follow. Thanks to all for a great vacation.
