0657 15 January, 2009 - we officially hit -0.4 degrees in Southern Illinuois. First time we’ve been here in a long time. “He” is not even coronated yet and we are already seeing the reversal of gorebal warming. All hail Hussein.
What “Glowball” warming, I ask from here in Ottawa where we are currently at -26C…

??? I don't hate the guy at all, although I think he has probably been the worst president in American history. And he does seem deranged to me, But hate him? no.PS I don’t hate James Buchanan either.
George was worst in math and science. He got a C in American History.
I don’t “Hate” anybody, very much…

You could not have found a better expression of the current state of anti-science when it comes to AGW. This AGW phenomena has risen to a kind of religion for so many of its advocates–most particularly, it appears, those who otherwise think of themselves as secularists or progressives. I sometimes suspect that those who object the loudest to religion are those who are most dangerous in creating their own–much like some of those who have sworn off alcohol and then taken on a new kind of anti-alcohol crusade. The phenomena of the unprovable and otherwise unjustified AGW reminds me of the crusades or even worse the inquisition. After all, it is beyond debate, isn’t it?
No, it’s not beyond debate at all. What do you think we’re having here? We’re actually debating it right now, and oddly, several people keep claiming debate is forbdidden. Seems a bit like whining
It was -28.8C when I got up for work this morning. A killer on diesels if you want to get them started!
Jon.
No, and double NO…debating is very much allowed here…sombody must be thinking they are some other place…!!!

Take heart. Warmer weather is on its way. It was +6 C here (near Edmonton) today. That beat the previous record high by 1.6 degrees. Similar temperatures predicted for tomorrow and Sunday. Talk about slushy!!!
Even better, we seem to have come out from under several weeks of cloud. I had to break out the sun-shades today.
Man, we got up to -13C today. And that actually felt warm! But I still had to go out and start my truck about every 4 hours. When we get up to the freezing range I’ll be out there in shorts!
ALL of the schools were closed here today. When it’s this cold the buses won’t start, so the schools have to close because so many students are bussed in. I think it’s something like 70+% of the student body…
We also don’t have enough salt to keep the roads clean. They have been using sand which is a whole new set of problems but most of the side streets around here have ice built up higher than the curbs. So the plows can’t do anything either. Our side street is under a good 10 inches of ice (at least). The plows tried to come through but they just smoothed it all out. So now cars sitting still just slide off the street onto the lawns.

mike omalley said:That's a little disingenuous to say the least. As almost ALL are aware, the Great Gore himself declared that AGW was beyond debate. So has the IPCC--the UN body which made that famous report, actually put together by UN bureaucrats. THEY and their fellow left-wing travelers are the ones who have made it clear that the debate is over. Or at least that is what they have attempted to do. You can't NOT know this!

As for THIS forum it is just plain silly to claim that anyone here at LSC is claiming the debate ON THIS FORUM is EVER over. Of course it isn’t. It never will be.
well, it was 15.1 degrees here just north of atlanta this morning at 9am…news said it was the coldest it’s been since 2005…huuummmm…and in 1993 I had to dig my car out of a snow drift??? and for the FIRST TIME EVER…I didn’t combat “bugs in my gardens” this past year cause we didn’t have enuff rains over the winter to sustain them…a summer without japanese beetles in georgia is like a day without sunshine, liquid or otherwise, in florida…it just don’t happen…24 now, going down to 12…but lQQk out, global warming is back in force…we hit the 30’s again tomorrow night…
guy came out here last spring and charged me $125 a # for freon for my heat pump (said it was so high cause it was outlawed) and replaced the fan motor which is a universal part, meaning you have to cut the shaft to fit the unit…well, he didn’t cut the shaft, which caused a terrible vibration in the unit…when I called him he told me my unit was “shot” and I was gonna have to replace it. friend of mine sent his ac guy in this summer…he told me the first guy was a dog pile, bumped the freon back up, cut the shaft on the fan motor, which ceased the vibration (vibration was sooo bad it cracked the case and was boring down into the compressor insuring I would HAVE to replace it this past fall )…all for $50…
who ya gonna turst? someone without an agenda…

Mary Jo, one of my jobs at work is to run and maintain the HVAC for the main building in our school system. The main building has a state of the art geothermal system to heat and cool everything. We just had a new company come out and look at a unit for some simple service (a bad fan motor). It took them 3 days to do an hours worth of work. And when they left they were telling me the water temperature on our system was too low, they needed to troubleshoot and fix the problem or else we’d be in serious trouble etc. They won’t be back after giving me advice like that. It’s a 15 million dollar system that runs so efficiently we count all the way down to half cent values when we do our cost/performance/trending analysis every month.
Finding the right people to do work is priceless.
