1st SNOW OF THE SEASON

Well it’s the first snow of the season. We received 4-7inches overnight, and I broke out the new snowplow for the first time to see how it went, 1st attempt figured out i had to put some weight into the car to give it some plowin ability. Did pretty good but when I got to the East end of the layout where snow had time to melt and get a little heavier, had to abort, and call it quits, but it did do about 3/4 of the inside loop. Also forgot the part about letting the wheels get cold on the engine so when it also got to the shady part engine was slipping, so I gave up the effort. Better luck next time. I will be more prepared I hope!! Snowplowin in West. Ne. The Regal

I’m not looking forward to snow this year at all!

Jon.

Still 73 degrees here, Jerry. Same as last night.
Good to see you are having some fun with the snow.

We are in the 70s here on the California desert but the remains of the monsoon that hit the western Pacific is headed our way. I shoulld have been building pontoons for the trains!

Was a muggy 80 here yesterday. Too warm for all that hard digging and rock slinging was doing yesterday (installing a pond for a client). Supposed to be 60’s this week. Much better. Snow is months off if we get any.

18 ffffffreakin degrees here last night. About 25 now, but sunny.

Emailed Noel and Joe M out in California, and told take a look betcha can’t do this EVER!! HAH LOL The Regal

Been in the 50’a here. Next few nights are calling for heavy frost and freeze. Thursday night friday forcast is calling for some snow out my way. I cant wait for our first snow.

We are away off from that first snow, but there is definelty a change to Fall. Truely the best time of year around here. Frost has hit west of us about 200 miles, but we are still in a warm band and will probably bottom out in the high 30’s . We could call this leaf pickin season because that is all I do most of the time. Never minded it, because weather is cool and it feels good to just be outside. Also, a wonderful time to be on the water, lots of waterfowl coming through and great bright colors everywhere.

Ahhhhh, a glass of Tawny Port, a fire in the pit, the dog at your feet, your honey by your side and a slow freight entering the County and blowing at all the crossing as it gets closer and then the sounds fade as it heads east.

Like Doug says, were expecting our first rains in a few days, everyone is waiting to see what happens in the burn areas and they are preping for some major mudslides. Fun fun fun :frowning:

Woke up to a heavy frost this morning and feeze warnings for tonight. Looks like the growing season is over on the KMRR. The fall colors are near peak as well.

It was 97 here today, and now cooling down into the low 80’s at night. I can’t say I miss the snow. Never was much of a fan.

43 and Sunny now.

We had our first “snow” 2 weeks ago. It was 50 and lite rain… except during the lulls you’d see single and then multiple ‘little white bugs’ drifting along on the breeze instead of falling straight down. I kept thinking "Nah, I’m seeing things, it’s SEPTEMBER… but my delusions must have been contagious, because quite a few other people saw them too.

A balmy 60 degrees here in WNC this morning. Overcast and high around 70 today.
Some softwood trees are dropping their leaves. Hardwood leaves are still green.
Maples are just starting to turn.
Fall is great. I can do without Winter, and snow.

I gave in and wore tennis shoes to the Botanic this weekend.

Last week I had to go back to jeans! Maybe I can go back to shorts this weekend!

We’ve had flurries on and off today. I just noticed it sticking to the cars. WAY to early for snow here :frowning:

We have been getting moderate snow all day. Inch of snow at High Point 3 miles from my house at 1803ft. Coating of snow at my house. First accumulating snow for me for the season. Train is waiting in tunnel hoping to get it running before dark. Picture from this afternoon early
