$150,000 for clothes

Oh come on! How much do you think has been spent for Obama & Michelle’s clothes not to mention even the McCains’ as well? While I think it’s foolishness to expend so much just for a few rags to hang on a candidate’s back it’s done for image and both sides do it. For example Hillary’s $2,000 visit to the beauty parlor when she was still running. Get real or if not real at least try and keep some small semblance of balance. Your spin is making me dizzy!

If Obama’s past associations and “spread the wealth” statements are irrelevant than why is a paid “image wardrobe” of any importance? After all the campaign is all about image unfortunately including everything from posters to clothing.

Do you mean they’ve been “too Liberal” then? You should love that.

Richard nails it.

If they are all spending that kind of money, they are out of touch with the realities of the general public.
It is not my money, so I really don’t care how the GOP wasted it.
You are the spin meisters. We give you facts and our opinion. You give me opinion with no facts to back it, other than “old news” Hilary. And $2000 is a long way from $150,000.
No, I don’t love their borrow and spend philosophy. I’m not liberal at all. I am intelligent enough to know that just because they have labeled themselves conservatives, it doesn’t make it so.
I’ve been labeled liberal here many times, yet I have never voiced any type of liberal opinion. You have the “you’re with us, or you’re against us” mentality. Just because I speak out against your “boys” doesn’t make me a liberal.
I have spoken out against Obama, Biden, both Clintons and many others right here on LSC. Does that make me a conservative?
IMHO , your “boys” have screwed up more than the other “boys”. Who knows, in the future it might be the other way around.

The difference between 2000 and 150, 000 is…148, 000

Think about at–150, 000 on clothes for a woman who claims to be just a regular person, just like ordinary small town Americans

Do you really think Obama has spent 150, 000 on suits? Or that Hillary spent 150, 000 in a month? I mean, thin about how hard that is to do. 150, 000

Fox News couldn’t stop talking about Edwards haircuts. $400!! On an on about it. it proved, they said , that he was a phony and a hypocrite

So if two 400 dollar haircuts proves that, what does 150, 000 in clothes prove?

I wonder how much Hillary spent? Or even BHO?

Really, is this the best you got?

You really think Hillary’s pant suits cost anywhere near that much? If they did she got robbed! :stuck_out_tongue:

You think Sidney is any better of a middle name?

-Brian

With a name like that, he couldn’t even run for dogcatcher…

Those of you who know my politics may be surprised, but I don’t don’t blame the Republicans for this. I blame the press and the people.

Nobody comments on what Obama or McCain are wearing. That’s because men wear the standard business suit and are judged on what they say and do. This is not true of women. How many times in this forum has Palin’s personal appearance been commented on? Imagine if Hilary had been chosen by her party and then gone on to become president. “President Clinton today declared war Iran. She was wearing a blue silk blouse with matching skirt. Fashion commentators have rated her as the third worst dressed woman in the country, beaten only by Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.”

Would Hilary Clinton or Sarah Palin have ever stood a chance had they been unattractive?

When I asked an American friend, some months ago, who she thought would win the Democratic Party nomination, she replied, “Obama! Americans are still more sexist than racist.”

Before being accused of being anti-American, let me say that this is true of other countries as well. Canadian politician Belinda Stronach is extremely attractive and received press coverage out of all proportion to her political status. Other female politicians in Canada, quite high-ranking, receive no such scutiny.

Wow! and you guys quote the New York Times as a source??? You might as well describe Christianity by quoting the Communist Manifesto! I am most happy for you that you have the intel’jenz I lack and can detect true Conservatism or lack thereof on demand.

As for “my boys” I’m an Independent and have no need to defend Palin on those grounds. In point of fact I detest the idea of one political party controlling the whole government. In fact I even voted for Gore over Bush just because it was obvious the Republicans would take both houses in that election even though I have no use at all for Gore. I later regretted this choice after hearing the weeping and wailing from the Left and the very obvious drive to delegitimize the Bush Presidency before he even took office.

You mean you voted strategically? Like some of us other guys ***? Whoa!!!

I guess the Left was really upset about Bush being anointed by the Supreme Court. Can’t blame them, looked like shades of banana republics.

*** I always vote strategically, living in the Okanagan there’s not much option. But as I said to SWMBO the day after the election “We didn’t move here because of their enlightened politics, did we?”

A supreme court that was stacked with Republican nominees.
Just like the Democrats did and will do when in power.
When they can that is.

All this brouhaha over a clothes bill…I list a dozen examples of Biden lying in a one nite debate and not a peep…except a feeble, “Reagon told fables on occasion”…

That’s because your examples of lying could be described as simple on the spot errors or as differences of interpretation. But as I admitted, Biden has a history of “exagerration.”

There’s no doubt or ambiguity or room for interpretation about the $150, 000 on clothes. In two months. 75, 000 a month.

But look, if you think it doesn’t matter that they bought her more in clothes than most Americans make in two years, fine. If you donated to the campaign and it turns out part of your contribution went to buy fancy suits for Todd Palin (just under $5000 spent at http://www.ateliernewyork.com/ check it out, maybe you’ll stop in on your next rrip to NYC?.), and that doesn’t bother you, fine. Just be consistent, that’s all I’m asking. If you are going to mock Democrats like Edwards for being hypocrites and “elitist” and “out of touch,” well, then, what’s sauce for the goose…

I should add I mean “you” in a general sense. I don’t know if you actually mocked Edwards for the haircut or not. Personally, I thought he was an idiot to
get a 400 dollar haircut and it made him look like a hypocrite and out of touch–the same way it does Palin.

you guys crack me up…both parties spend more in a day just transporting their staffs around that I’ll ever see in a lifetime. Then again, I cannot even begin to imagine what it costs to fly both candidates around the country on enormous, expensive jets surrounded by hefty (paid) staffs and U.S. Secret Service agents.

Obama got that much from Freddie Mac in campaign contributions just to turn the other way…

right, and McCain has Freddie Mac lobbyists on his staff–if you want to start a thread about that, go ahead.

This one is about the clothes

No Mike it isn’t about clothes, it’s about envy and class warfare.

I'm sure $150K is a drop in the bucket compared to what uber rich Cindy McCain spends on clothes, shiny baubles and plastic surgery. I'm sure Joe 6-pack and Joe the Plumber can really relate to that kind of extravagance. I say, "Keep up the good work!" It's really paying off for them. :D

Dude,

It’s her money, she can do what the hell she wants with it.

Not according to the NEW Left! They want it all for themselves!

Out of all the guys here, I'm the closest to being "Joe the Plumber" as a self employed, small business owner and contractor.

And Brian am I susppose to feel sorry for you or envy you? So am I and I can not get the SOB’s to pay their bills either but then you maybe have the same problem. Feeble. How dare you  You want lies? Just listen to the McCain commercials airing in NC. Full of lies. McCain really has disappointed me. I would have voted for him in 2000 had he won the primary. McCain I'm afraid is not as sharp as he once was. As for Biden, being wrong is not necessarily telling a lie. He may not be as sharp as he once was either. Ralph
