10 days ( or less ) to Mik's 2018 Challenge

It’s now official, The 10 day count down to the start of

Mik’s 2018 Build Challenge

354 Days ago, we rocketed into the unknown, Most survived the blast off, Sadly a few sputtered out at the end. But oh the joys for the victors, and the runner-ups promising "I’ll Get You Next Year"

Well only 10 days to wait, Hoard, Stash, or otherwise Procure to beat the deadline of "whats on hand, doesn’t count towards the cost$$.

BTW: O’l Dave has been ready to go for 4 months, And I have already cheated cause I know what I’m going to do for this year.

Might be a Hawaiian entry this year…Too bad I have no scrap box!

Well if you go out and buy odds and ends of what you might need, next year you will have one.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Other than glues and paints, it’s a crap shoot with blank dice(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif). Dave keeps us guessing to keep the playing field level.

This year I’m thinking about _____, … well I think I am.

Hawaii ! Yes !

I am glad I have both mine and my brother’s junk boxes. I have also been busy collecting more junk, hopefully I will be able to use it!

The gears are turning, but why?

We’ll see, for me it will be dependent on the challenge and how well it fits into my layout options.

Gee, I hope I don’t have to use any of my drive blocks. I don’t want to have to quit LSC for a year.

I have piles of junk stuff, paint, glue, xacto blades, band aids, but I don’t have a cleaned off workbench. I guess maybe that should be my project for the next couple of days.

I was just lamenting my drawing board is under last year’s aborted entry, need to lay out the cab of a truck.

Dang! I always get distracted during cleanup.

My junk box includes a busted Annie chassis, some LGB couplers, foam packing, and craft sticks. Did I mention or one hobby store carries NO model railroad supplies? Oh, but I have palm fronds and sand in abundance. We shall see if “noobie ambition” meets the reality of the challenge!

Don’t forget to have plenty of napkins for planning… Us real purists get one from our local eatery. Extra points if yours has coffee stains, waitresses phone number or embossed company logo on it. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Viva la Napkin Builders!!!

The story of the Napkin Builder can be found here (scroll down to the beginning): https://cibolalmrr.com/miks-build-challenge/the-napkin-drawing/

Thanks for the link, it was nice to refresh my mind… I too have left napkins for paper towels, I like the ones perforated into thirds, I can either go big or refine details!(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I started a bash to get my fingers thinking and to have a project already on hold, so I might finish this one…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Don’t worry my friend, we all pitch in with ideas and tips for each other. When I don’t win, I can still find comfort knowing a couple of my suggestions were used on winners!

I aded more stuff to the junk boxes today! I may even have to use some this stuff!

Hell, my “workshop” is a junk box.

The biggest challenge with the workshop is remembering where I put the junk!
