Large Scale Central

10 days ( or less ) to Mik's 2018 Challenge

Funny man … My ‘new’ pin nailer hasn’t been used in 2 years!

Just in case, I bought a new compressor! Oh yeah, a shot of Sea Foam and the pins fired clean.

First contest hint: Sea Foam Deep Creep; a Multi-use penetrating lubricant. I don’t have a moisture trap on my thimble tank compressor, but a shot of sea foam lubes and protects. I shoot it into the air way of the tool. I spray the moving parts too. Comes in an aerosol can with a straw for pin point application. If that’s not enough it sez it won’t let guns freeze up in cold weather.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I find it in Auto Parts stores.

The 4th Day of MIK

On the 4th day of MIK, We ponder why Santa never gets us just what we want to make us happy, But we’re happy with the blessings that we got, and the family and friends to share them with.

Well, “happy” comes from inside, not from “stuff”. I am thankful for my blessings. As for my family, the dog and I had a wonderful day doing almost nothing.

"four of us, loosely known as “Four Old Operators” were batting around messages, of religion, politics, food, booze, sex, and Large scale Model railroading…one guy neatly combined sex and LS model railroading together, while making a spelling mistake…or was it a mistake… he wrote a line including; “…G Scale virgin…”

This mistake forced me to think of a contest for those deeply into populating their models of the Silverton open air passenger cars; those that pride themselves on figure making…

The contest is to produce a “G Scale” VERSION, of a “G Scale” VIRGIN…

…the best version, wins a bottle of “President’s Choice”, pure VIRGIN Olive Oil.

…the question of course, is: What in hell is actually “G Scale” ???

Fr.Fred

This also points out, how one spelling mistake can drastically change the meaning of a sentence; so those that don’t bother to care about good spelling…PLEASE TAKE HEED.

Yea, and improperly used, or missing, punctuation, can really cause the reader some confusion. Please proofread before hitting the post button.

But Fred, some of us, like me, are at the mercy of our spell chequer. I went through all of my so called “Formal Education”, with a case of undiagnosed dyslexia. So spelling isn’t my strong suit.

The 5th Day of MIK

On the 5th day of MIK, We recover from the forth day of MIK,

And ponder whats ahead for those that will take the challenge after surviving the celebration of MIK.

The 6th Day of MIK

On the 6th day of MIK, Dave’s tired and going to bed! BTW: A New twist for this year… Just checking to see if you all are reading.

I am reading get n with it already

In 1962 my sister and I showed folks in Switzerland the New Twist … ala Chubby Checker … ya we danzed!

I hope that’s not what you meant, my twistin’ days are way over!

The anticipation is building ! What will the challenge be this year? Will we be building a line side structure or a train car ?

Will we be tasked to complete a started but stalled project? I have a 250 ton crane build that is laying in a pile of pieces and parts and I could use some inspiration to get going on it again. LOL

What will the challenge be??

I am working fast to remodel the studio for the new switching layout and plenty of light to work on the “challenge.” A 3x5 window installed where the rollup door was gives me lots of light!

Joe, how did you get that picture to open?

How many minutes until we find out what we are doing? Well, I probably still won’t know even after you tell us!

Doug,

The 10th Day of MIK

On the 10th day of MIK, The celebrations have reached their climax. All the pre challenge hoarding ends with the great ball drop, And the anticipation of “What the hell does Dave have up his sleeve for this year” ends in 24 hrs.
