YouTube deliberately worsening the user experience?

YouTube deliberately worsening the user experience?

How about an alternative?

I’m blessed with listener supported music on my radio. No ads!

Give it a listen, they stream…

I hope you dump the Cache on your computer at least once a day after a 9 hour session.

You could always try WRJQ Goodtime Radio: http://wrjqradio.com/

There just isn’t enough Polka music anymore. Polka music always make me feel better!

Anybody tried YouTube NonStop, or heard of any issues with it? It’s a free Chrome add-on.

I’m trying it out now…

Sigh, while I understand your frustration in something that was good and has gotten worse, I cannot sympathize…

Why?

Because you never get something for nothing. You want “free” entertainment… well it ain’t free, or free does not last long.

Anything “free” gets permeated by ads…

So calling youtube “sadist idiots” is not sustainable… they are not sadists for putting ads in, and they are not idiots that can spend millions with no return…

Is broadcast television run by “sadist idiots” because they have commercials?

Sorry you are upset, but “free” never lasts, and is never free in the long run…

Baloney. You don’t know what you’re talking about, as usual. It’s easy as pie getting around the ads on youtube. I haven’t seen a youtube ad in years.

John: Please share your technique, inquiring minds want to know. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

U tube recently changed to a paid ad free format. I used to be ad free with the free UTube. Now I get adds all the time.

They want 12 bucks a month to be ad free.

Forest, try Pandora Radio.

I use regular YT, not paid.

I’ve used Adblock for Youtube for years, and haven’t seen ads since.

YouTube NonStop (I posted on that earlier) seems to be working fine so far.

Both are free and available through Chrome Web Store.

Let’s keep it civil, please. Personal attacks aren’t necessary. Simply say you disagree and cite some evidence. Of course Greg didn’t say it’s impossible to skip all ads, he merely said don’t blame Youtube for adopting a business model that is financially sustainable.

Thanks for reading and understanding my post Neal.

I hate commercials myself, and record TV and then skip over the commercials, but there are no sustainable “free” things in life, period. As people learn ways around things, more sophisticated ways are introduced.

But I pay extra to Hulu, for example, to not have commercials. I’m not calling them sadistic idiots.

Greg

Cliff,

Me to (Ad Block), still get the ads.

I never use adblock for Youtube as I understand doing so prevents the content creator from receiving compensation.

You know guys the OP never said anything about the ads, his objection is the resetting the connection. It adds an extra strain to his aches and pains.

New and improved rarely is anymore.

Forrest:

You might see if any of these solutions address your issues - youtube pauses playback

John is right, the OP complained about the pause, and I just read an equally anguished discussion on Reddit… seems the pause is to save money/bandwidth.

My wife uses Pandora, and it periodically stops and asks if you are still listening.

Irritating, but we don’t pay for Pandora, so we accept it.

Greg

Odd thing is my cable box does the same thing. If there has been no input from the user for 4 hours, it shuts off. Usually right in the best part of the show. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

That’s power stuff, my TV does the same… the government is forcing manufacturers to make things more power efficient, so they turn themselves off…

Roger that, John. That’s why I posted (twice) about that free Chrome add-on that does the automatic “clicking” for that annoying popup. So Forrest, I hope it works for you as well.

Greg, I agree that YT is a business, not a 501c charity, and ads are fair and proper. Someone else mentioned YT ads being annoying, so I posted about what I use, because I’ve not had the ads since. I’ve read that even with YT Red (paid version), one still gets ads. Can’t verify that though.
