You guys have been more help than anyone on the 3d printing forums
Amazon says the power supply will be delivered Sunday? How very odd. I’ll expect it sometime next week.

Tom, This time of year FED-EX and UPS does deliver on sundays. It happened to me a few years back.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
The US Post Office also delivers packages on Sunday.
This time of year FedEx forgets where my house is. Then I get an email notification that they cannot find my house, so I take a screen shot of map Quest and email that back to them so, I can get my Christmas present the week after Christmas.
Ok, it only happened once, several years ago.

hehe. I don’t think that would happen to ANYBODY else
Of course not. But several paper maps I have looked at didn’t even have my street name on them. My street connects with another street, and the map just showed the whole street with that other street’s name. Since only the last 2 blocks of the street are named the street I live on, I guess it was a simple mistake to make. It gave me some comfort when a co-worker threatened to kill me. If he cant find my street, he cant find my house.
But now with GPS, and all of the online maps, finding my street should be easy.
Sure enough. Power supply was on my doorstep yesterday afternoon.
Power supply mounted and wired up.
Something on the display!
I have moved all the steppers around with the buttons. The build plate and heaters warm up. Just need to get something on my SD card to print.
Hmm. Better clean off the kapton tape. Oops. Better replace the kapton tape as there’s a hole.
"There’s a hole in my kapton, dear Liza, dear Liza,
There’s a hole in my kapton, dear Liza, a hole!"
May be boring but I started with a 20mm test cube http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:38108 Actually, I tend to print a lot of these. Every time I’m testing out a new type of filament or an upgrade.

Just like when programming AVR’s, the first step in making the program for new hardware is to blink an LED.
Apparently, according to the Curious Aardvark, my printer works with .x3g files, not .gcode files. I’m having trouble finding a slicer that generates those. The old version of Curl mentioned above lists my printer in it’s configuration, but still makes the .gcode file.
I have it going through its motions. I “calibrated” the dual extruder and it was cool to watch it squiring out plaztek.
It worked!
Sweet! Now try dual extruding! Now try ABS! Now try PET! Now try the NASA wrench! Now try …
Trying a tardis, but the “replicatorg” program is refusing to make the .s3g file.
And now the fun begins … Or the horror …
But isn’t horror supposed to be fun? Well, until my autistic tendencies start to come out.
Printed a little TARDIS. It’s about 4cm tall. Just got “MakerWare” version 4 and trying one of the sample prints. I’ll let you know.
Tiny TARDIS:
It’s really hard to photograph. Must be due to rift energy. Now to paint it blue and find something train related. Or maybe use OpenSCAD to design something.

Tom… try an outhouse yo’re in the same design thought
Tom…head over to http://www.thingiverse.com/. Do a simple search for “garden train” and you’ll be off to the many distractions that I found (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
I also found a blog called “Open Railway” that has some items in Thingiverse (like the SW1500 I plan to scale to 1:29 and print out the parts - if I can figure out a good way to do it on my small print bed (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)). Have fun!
I’ve been trying to print a project box about 6cm by 4cm and 2cm high. The bottom always warps, then gets knocked off the bed by the extruder. The guys at the makerbot forum tell me I need to build it a hood to keep the warm air in. Trying the “slurry” method now of sticking the bottom to the bed, but that doesn’t seem to work.
I’ll need a sheet of 1/8 inch plexiglass, but that might have to wait for another payday, or perhaps Christmas money.
First attempt at slurry made a mess.
So I put LOTS of acetone & plastic slurry on, then covered the whole thing with a blanket for a “hood.” It kindof worked.
Here is the project box with the project in it.
It was supposed to have my name and footprint logo stamped into the front and legends over the ports on the sides for connecting it. None of the text showed, and the footprint logo is almost recognizable. The back side of the box looks pretty good.
Tom,
I’m going to assume because you made a “slurry” you are using ABS filament. When printing ABS, I have had good luck with Kapton coated with the cheapest hairspray and I crank the bed to 110°C. I strongly recommend you print with PLA until you get more familiar with the printer. PLA is much more forgiving. I get great results with Blue painters tape with a coat of Elmers glue stick and the bed at 55°C. Corners flat even when I print a Boxcar door.
