Not too early to start planning for ECLSTS. I’m pondering going back to the Holidome, it seems they’ve cleaned up their act, if you believe the rumors. And the drag-and-brag room there is better.
Ric and I were discussing this yesterday… The Holidome/convention center wasn’t very keen on us using that ““drag & bag”” room… Whereas, the other hotel seemed more than delighted to help out… The holidome/convention center is OK, provided your not in a room that walls with the swimming pool area… That pool area gets real loud… and there doesn’t seem to be any kind of a curfew…
We really need to figure out who is going to stay where, so we can make plans/reservations…
Well…the Holiday Inn Express was happy last year, because we paid them $100 or so. Tiny room.
well… who has the better free breakfast???
I’m still trying to figure out what an ““All-Amercian”” breakfast is… a bowl of wheaties???

You need to mail them a copy of the recipe for a Haystack…
The downside of where we stayed last year was it was WAAAAAAAAAAAY over there on the other side of town…and no restaurant close by…
Plus the D&B room wasnt somewhere people could wander by and see whats up.
On the other hand, the Holidome is the ‘offical’ hotel, whatever that’s worth.
I think I figured out what an ALL AMERICAN breakfast is. It is a breakfast only ALL AMERICANS can stand to eat.

YEP!
great, Victor… A Denny’s ““Grand Slam””…
WAIT!!! York has other restaurants than the ““DINER””??? Say it isn’t so…
The last year that I had anything to do with the “Drag & Brag” room, it was a regular bedroom, that the hotel agreed to take the beds out of, and replace them with chairs and several tables. I haven’t made it to York for several years…maybe three. The price they are offering rooms for sounds reasonable ($89). The breakfast free breakfast is supposed to be eggs, meat, hash browns, toast and coffee…served at your table(from what I can figure out).
If in doubt, call them…
I’m not sure that I will be attending, but if I do; I’ll be at the old Holidome.
I plan on calling them and checking out what they can do for the D&B room, and what the breakfast is.
I may book a room, and the D&B room, just in case I get there.
The location is the best of the lot…
ahhhh, but you’ve not been there, when the ceiling starts leaking and falling on your head in the bathroom…
I can’t remember what the price was where Ralph and I stayed last year - I’ll have to dig through my annual statement. We were across the street from Super 8; might have been a Days Inn. Originally we trying to get into the Red Roof. We be cheap. Rooms were OK and I didn’t have any noise issues. Super 8’s WiFi worked real well from across the street
EDIT to add: Bummer. I paid CASH and didn’t save any receipts. I never pay cash. What was I thinking
EDIT AGAIN to add: Boy was I way off. We WERE in the Red Roof and I did save the receipt and didn’t pay cash - just used a different card than normal. Found it in my York folder. I paid $58.50 for a Deluxe King room. $127.50 w/tax for two nights. In 2005 I paid $285.72 for 3 nights ($80 Rate).
I have a floor plan of the Holidome and a Rodent Part sign in my file too

[/url] YEP!
That looks pretty good, if you’d cover it with gravy and added an order of fries. Damn, just ate and you guys got me hungry again.

I know Honey Brown is the official fuel for the D&B but would be happy to contact my friends at http://www.troegs.com/ if you would like to get your gas at a different station again this year ?
Not too early to start planning for ECLSTS.
I liked the Troegs you brought us last time. Wish we could get it locally, but so far haven’t seen it around here…
Anybody got the price and phone number on the Holidome? Yeah, I know its on the AC site, never have a chance to get over there.
For 2011 the East Coast Large Scale Train Show will have a new “SHOW Hotel” The show hotel will be
Holiday Inn Conference Center of York, Pennsylvania
ROUTE 74 & US 30
2000 Loucks Rd
YORK, PENNSYLVANIA 17408
Hotel Front Desk: 1-717-846-9500
Hotel Fax: 1-717-767-1973
Holiday Inn Conference Center’s web site
We have worked out a deal with the Holiday Inn Conference Center of York for
$89.00 for a double occupancy. (plus taxes)
With this double occupancy you get a
FULL HOT BREAKFAST.
(It is called their All American Breakfast)
Several of you already have been staying at this hotel. So have asked to get a hotel a little closer to the show and a hotel with a full restaurant. Reading the write up of the hotel, it also has an indoor pool that is open year round as well as a bar/lounge on the property.
When you call to make your reservations, make sure you use the following three letters to get the show rate.
E C L.
If you have already registered please call back and let them know you are with the East Coast Large Scale Train Show group. E C L. so we can get credit for your stay at the hotel for our show. It helps when we go back to renegotiate for 2012.
The online registration should work with this three letter code.
I have asked, if there is a desire for any groups to meet in the evening, would a ‘conference room’ be available. I was told that if it was available, we could use it. I will let this up to you all, but if there is a desire to do this, let me know and I will ask for a room for this. If you want a totally informal gathering, the lounge is available and it opens at 5:00pm, and closes depending on volume. It can stay open until 2am at the latest.
The "Show Pricing " is good until 30 days BEFORE THE SHOW. So book your rooms ahead of that 30 day window to get the show pricing. Less than 30 days, they said the rooms may cost the regular rate, so book early.
The 2011 show should be an exciting show with lots of new products coming out. So dont miss it. It will be the Place to BE for G Scale Trains.
