Large Scale Central

Yes, this is a short line

Some are probably familiar with our webcam aimed across the lake at the railway line. There have been complaints - German complaints - about the lack of traffic on the line, as if it were my fault that they can’t patiently sit there and watch at the appointed hour.

To deliver proof of trains

Kelowna Pacific Railway along Kalamalka Lake, BC

Actually there are two short lines in the valley, using more or less the same trackage - at least South of Armstrong. The second outfit - Okanagan Valley Railway (owned by Omnitrax)- is planning to discontinue service since they lost their largest customer (Owens-Illinois) in Lavington. Which means I have to hustle and chase them for a whole day (or two) to record while they’re still here.
Sooooooo more video coming up.

Caught one!

Well as I see it, it is your fault! :stuck_out_tongue:

BTW-Beautiful scene!

Dear HJ,

Is your web cam down for maintenance? I visit 2 or 3 times a week. I enjoy the view and maybe, just maybe, I’ll spot a train like Torby did.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Joe Satnik

Hi Joe,

No it isn’t, it’s that &^%@#$ 'puter of SWMBO that locks up too frequently. Since she won’t get things “cleaned up” ;), I’m still looking for a reliable, neat solution to get the USB extended to my 'puter.
In the meantime I’m being mean and let her know that her &^%@#$ 'puter locked/screwed up again.

Dear HJ,

Have her delete all her cookies and try Iobit Advanced System Care Free on her computer.

http://iobit.com/

It’s free.

Then, go buy her a Cadbury Caramello.

Sincerely,

Joe Satnik

Joe,

Her office is her domain/castle/sanctum; the webcam has squatter’s rights because of the much better view. After checking the cause of things this morning I made an effort and decided “USB over CAT5” is the solution to the problem. Ordered the stuff and now it is simply a matter of digging myself through the labyrinth in her office - did I mention that she’s the packrat in this house? - to install the goodies.

PS Ah hem … the webcam will then connect to my 'puter.

The first rule for domestic tranquility is to buy her her own desk and Com Pewter, and then keepa you mits offa it!

SWMBO has had her own confuser from the word "GO", along with her own office etc. etc. etc. no problem there, it's some of her funky software that plays havoc with the operation of the confuser. And once I have set the webcam to my 'puter, I will continue to listen patiently to what quirks happen on her machine. :/ ;) :/ Not my problem. ;) :D

HJ’s webcam is interesting this morning.

It is partly cloudy and the clouds are moving at a pretty fast clip, so the sunshine and shadows change pretty dramatically upon refresh. (Wait 15 seconds or more.)

Huh. I looked just now and it’s pitch black.

I guess I am fortunate in that my wife does not have a pc and detests them. She lays most of the present worlds misfortunes on computers - ranking them somewhere in the top ten of World Wars, Black Death, Despots and other grim events that has inflicted mankind over the centuries.

Her conclusion about this is due to the fact that whenever there in a glitch, problem or whatever with a company, hospital or official organization the person she speaks with never blames their incompetence but always, without fail, blames ‘the computer’.

I tend to agree with your wife Alan. I use them for fun and only when needed but don’t rely on them for personal or business. Yes I have lots of filing cabinets.

Caught a train ! Gray tank cars (I think) moving from center to left side, then out of view.

Dear HJ,

Still maintaining the webcam?

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Joe Satnik

I can give up using my computer any time I want.

I really can.

I KNOW I can.

Anytime.

Anytime I REALLY want to.

IF I really wanted to…

Dear HJ,

Does the lake freeze in the winter? Today, it looks like the water is open.
