Y.D. & Kid-zilla 2025 Mik - Rocket Carrier

Well blast my old eyes, I didn’t see that. Thanks Dave

KId-zilla continues to ponder how best to finish off his missile carrier. He rooted through the “gemuckabuckets” and found a piece of scrap that evoked “tool box.”

It was important to him that his PLAYMOBIL could use the handle, so he found a bit of styrene tubing that fit a 1:24 guy’s hand, placed it over some piano wire, bent and cut it to shape, and made it fast to the toolbox with CA.

He got to use the DREMEL at night to cut the wire, which, on account of sparks, made it a lot more fun!

The 1:24 gang is pleased.

I am not sure how he plans to make these items fast to the rocket carrier. I have suggested some sort of bin. We shall see!

I’m enjoying the creativity and imagination being shown. Personally the tool box should just bolt on so it can’t be borrowed and thus not on hand when it’s needed. No doubt there will be some specialty tools in there. :sunglasses:

It has been fun to see him go from just some little hands to being the creative driving force and showing some decent modeling skills.

Thanks, Devon! I think he turned a corner last year in that 10-wheel restoration project. This project saw some of the old Kid-zilla though, as he declared himself done, saw others proceeding, found something he needed to add, and repeated the cycled.

To that end, Y.D. did finally start to help him today in the finishing phases of this project. Of course, I didn’t capture any pictures of her help, but I did see her grab him, grab, the project, and head inside!

For his part, Kid-zilla decided that the car needed more safety striping, so he grabbed some TAMIYA masking tape and added it.

Then, he built a bin to hold the rocket fuel…

…and used the same tape to make hold-down straps.

He road tested the rig this evening behind Rocky.

Flawless! It even got the CINCHOUSE nod of approval!

The project effectively done, he decided to replace our control box fuses with a small breaker…

…and call it a day!

I am not sure what he and his sister will come up with tomorrow, but he is already imagining a seacoast mortar car to tow behind the missile and the submarine! I told him, “Next MIK!”

Y.D. came through and helped to paint and fit out the tool box and the oil can.

The “can” is one of those desiccant things in pill bottle.

Y.D. plans to make things up to Kid-zilla in the glamor shots phase to follow!

Otherwise…pau!

A good bottle of bourbon solves all problems…

I can’t wait to see what he come up with. What a great build.

Cheers

Thanks so much for your kind words! It is always fun to rally the clan for the MIK. I always hope it’ll inspire others to take on the hobby by showing that you can participate without spending a fortune.
