Y.D. & Kid-zilla 2025 Mik - Rocket Carrier

We shall find out, Cliff! In the meantime progress was steady today. The cradles got mounted (after explaining he was to drill into the wooden plug, not the clay nozzle!) and got a good coat of paint.

These were mounted shortly after drying.

Later, he drilled a hole to receive the brake, having found gluing it in place with epoxy putty was insufficient.

Today’s efforts actually put him over the line, with the carrier fully assembled and awaiting details!

He’s been bragging about it all day, but, as they say, “The devil is in the details!”

While basking in all your glory and pride taking the pics did you happen to notice the boys drinking Vodoo Ranger these days.

I’m wondering what flavor myself?

I this case, the coozie hides Kona Brewing company’s recently re-released “Lemon Grass Luau.” This is a lager with a touch of lemongrass in it that is evocative of what the Germans call a “Spezi,” usually a lager mixed 50-50 with lemon soda. Normally, this is a summer beverage, but who was I to judge?

Now, as for VooDoo Ranger, pass me their imperial IPA any day of the week…but not the hazy one. Blech… :face_vomiting:

Back to the topic, Kid-zilla is still worrying over details, and today he spent some time scrounging for stuff to use as oil cans, boxes, tie-downs, etc. He also cut a little shim so the rocket will rest evenly. He has claimed he is ready to call in his sister to detail this up now that he has built the car. We shall see if she heeds the call!

Get them a six pack and a note pad with some Sharpies. The ideas will flow and good or bad at least they will have notes in the morning. Whether the notes will be legible or not has to be determined.

However one or both of them may wake up with Sharpie eyebrows and a mustache. My guess will probably be the boy.

On second thought give them washable markers!

I am seriously disappointed that for some reason here locally I can no longer finde pipeline porter

Pipeline Porter seems to have gone by the wayside…

On a happier note, Kid-zilla scrounge some bits for details. Some will get paint. Y.D. remains a very silent partner…

Go find yourself some Cold Smoke from Kettle House Brewery in Missoula. I stock up every visit to Spokane now that they are distributed in Spokane area. Years ago I could only find it east of 4th of July pass. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Grocery outlet seemed to be the best. I may have bought them out.

Drink it every so often. That is another very good beer.

You guys are making me thirsty and I just gave blood and am not supposed to have alcohol  :joy:

Mark, what a great idea! The giving of blood is quite in the Spirit of the MIK

One unnamed LargeScale Centralian is well known for his unsolicited payment of an annual blood tribute to the gods, during the build phase MIK. His contribution tends to be unscheduled and often involves him making an urgent trip to the hospital, and often delays his return to the challenge.

The life you save may be your own Devon’s.

Here is the scary part. I am done cutting I am pretty sure. Its just paint, decals, and mounting the speaker inside. I am not sure how to feel about completing my challenge without a blood letting.

Could be worse, right after Christmas our local supermarket decided to blow out their Pennsylvania Dutch products at 75% off. So I got 2 bottles of eggnog, a bottle of chocolate cream liquor, and a bottle of peppermint bark cream liquor. Yeah poor me :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

My wife loves eggnog with brandy, I think the chocolate cream liquor sounds better

If you could work some trepanning into the procedure, that would be seriously cool.

You guys do realize that you have turned Y.D and Kid-Zillas Mik build into a drinking thread with a history problem.

However you can just blame :rooster: as should have recommended permenant marker instead of erasable.

Have a little respect for the children here including myself! I turn my back for a few days and see what happens!!!

Carry on kids and make Mik proud !

you are so right.
children and chicken plus alcohol is not recomendable.
i remember, what fun we had some 65 years ago, by feeding chickens - with grain soaked in alcohol…
but, like Darth Rooster said, back to building!

Meanwhile, back on the lanai, Kid-zilla has been pondering what details a rocket carrier needs.

One item, of course, was lettering. I helped him with the CRICUT to make labels.

Depsite being a second generation Navy family, I let the lettering stand! “MT” is his designation for “Missile Transport.” We’ll see how many cars are in the series!

He adds his own commentary on the first detail, a barrel or rocket fuel.

This detail, of course, set up the following HAZMAT incident:

Luckily, we have a HAZMAT team!

Actually, Chemical Carl has some pretty sound advice.

He also re-carved and painted a form for the nose cone to rest on.

Somewhere along the way, Kid-zilla noted how much fun this car will be.

Y.D. actually expressed guilt for not doing anything yet while we were all discussing our projects over dinner this evening. One week to go to see how she plays her part in this project.

Eric

That is a clever little car and he has done a great job on working through how to construct it. Hopefully Y.D. gets her signature on it before time runs out.

Eric, is Kid-zilla going to consider adding a drawbar between the two cars like a drawbar between two logging disconnects?

BTW somewhere I recall reading that drawbar being called a rooster bar.

Actually, I think the yellow/black striped bar is the rooster bar.
