Crime Area Map

I wanted to share a website with you that is a good idea to visit.
It is http://www.familywatchdog.us/ When you visit this site you can enter your address and a map will pop up with your house as the small icon of a house and red, blue, green, dots surrounding your entire neighborhood.

When you click on these dots a picture of a person will appear with an address and the description of the crime he or she had committed. I was really shocked at how many of these people were in my neighborhood. The best thing is that you can show your children pictures and see how close these people live to your home or school. This site was developed by John Walsh from Americas Most Wanted. Another tool to help us keep our kids safe.

If this was used for the purposes intended…to keep people properly informed I would have no objections. But unfortunately it can, and does get used for “witch hunts”. By law, if a person uses this to harass an offender they can be prosecuted for it. In reality the law turns a blind eye.

I wish I had an equitable solution to the problem of educating the public while protecting a person that has served his time and by law and the constitution has his rights returned, but I don’t.

Wouldn’t need the map if the Old West law observed in the 1880s was still inplace…all that would be required is a simple piece of rope

As with any “good Intention” the problem of abuse does crop up. But since the majority of Americans are law-abiding citizens and this is intended for those who are, I’d tend to side with the majority and get as much info as I can on these sorts of people in the community.
