WV&K NG Shops on the move

OK…so The Shops need moved to the other end of the yard. 180 spin and 100 ft Move. In preparation I decided to secure ‘loose’ items, and do the spring cleaning and reorganization as well…I guess eveyone can see where I went wrong…

The day dawned cool and damp…ok so it was actually cold and raining…started at the door and worked my way inward…sheet goods and leftover milled wood stacked onthe covered work area (the back porch). Theres plans for building locomotive storage under the assembly bench so that area got tackled and 2 years of junque stashed there drug out (HEY! I forgot I had that…Whut the hell was this for?)

Semi completed projects (rescued from under the bench) are stashed in a tote…Next up, clearing the benchtops of tools and supplies, and hopefully stashing them so they can be located, I gotta have another pot of coffee first…

Just before 1300…the Shop is completely demobilized…everything stashed and secured and unable to work on a damn thing…natcherly, the landlord hasn;t shown up…(This was half his idea after all) God know how long its gonna take me to clean this mess up! SWMBO caught me mocking up a 24 ft combine out of my mashed potoatos at dinner last night…

I have a similar problem about to occur here. A 16x22 foot addition, offset from the foundation of the house. Construction will start in about 6 weeks. And, guess where the old and new foundations meet? Yep, my workshop. They’re going to cut 5’ out of the wall right in the middle of my workshop. So the shop gets packed up.

Thank God its summer soon, and I can run trains.

SIGH! Looks like it will be another week befoer the Shop moves…looks like I’m gonna do some more O scale work in the near future…

As of 1900 hours this evening, the West Virgina & Kentucky Shops completed their move opening up a new railroad season! With the help of two Firefighters, Dad and his Kubota Tractor, and several “supervisors” Mom, SWMBO and the JRVP The Shop slid from its original location…

approxmately 75 feet and a 180 degree turn…

To its new location. IT is actually more level now that it was in the original location…now to lear it out, and start over!!!

So , who is the handsome youth on the tractor then ?

That would be my father…I’m the one rigging the chain…

So , he thinks you’re to young to drive the tractor then, Bart ?
I have to say , you look a happy crew . Nice to see everyone mucking in
Mike

Bart,
It is hard to see terrain in some pictures. On the left side of the first picture, is that your approach to the shed?
This is all starting to make sense.

Nope…the first picture is the Shed in its original position…thats the remains of Anns Creek YArd after the track was lifted in the foreground…In the last photo the locomotive storage track will enter the Shop to the Right of the mian doors…the staging tracks will be dwn the right side of The Shop outdoors…the rest on the Yard trackplan will be in front of the shop and extend out of the photo to the right…

Just when I think I understand, he explains it a different way.

Okay, this thread and the one listed below

http://www.largescalecentral.com/LSCForums/viewtopic.php?id=6083

are the same thread, at the same time, on the same shed, on the same piece of property?

And where is this in relation to your house, the dog pen and the porch in the first picture?

Yup all the same. The building moved 75 feet in a straight line, and rotated 180 degrees its still as close to teh house as it was in the first picture…was never ment to be the same thread…just one happened to mention the other as an aside…

Shop Update…this morning the building was gutted…the benches and all parfanelia removed and the benches reset at a new height for storage. At this time, power and lights are restored and the large power tools (drill press, belt sander, bandsaw) have been reinstalled. All that remains isthe sorting and stoarge of various hand tools, parts, and supplies…bad ideas abound…the adventure continues…Stay Tuned…

Alllrighty Shop Fans…the Great Move of the WV&K Shops is complete, the shop forces are back in action!

I really hate to say this, but…

I think the shop needs to move about 6 inches to the left, as your standing in front and looking at the shop…

Funny everyone else says 10 inches to the right!

I’m old, didn’t have my glasses…

mumbling <still think 10 inches is too far>

…the dog house is now, too far from the bheer cooler and the litter box…

Nope…actually its closer to both, and the wireless router…the connection hasn;t dropped out all weekend!

You got a wireless router? Man, mine has a power cord, a storage case and a lot of bits. It would be nice if it was wireless, becaue that cord gets in the way, sometimes. These modern battery operated gadgets are great! I got a wireless drill, but a wireless router, that’s high class.
