Large Scale Central

WV&K 0-6-0

Well it was supposed to be a quick little conversion of a Bachmann Indy to an 0-6-0…the pilot conversion went well…then it was downhill from there…5 days later…she’s ‘mostly finished’…

She’s got onboard battery and RC but DANG that would be a tiny tender to squeeze sound into as well…Thrre tries to get the coal bunker the way I wanted it, and to hide the battery pack, but overall I’m pleased. The weight I sneaked into the boiler gives it a little extra, what more could ya want in an Industrial Switcher? I still haven;t decided if she’s to wear WV&K Colors or be a private company switcher, but she’s to be assigned to the Buchanan Mining Disstrict as a local switcher…

Looking good. Now it needs to visit here

Gee Bruce…thats pretty much what I had in mind…was hoping I could get it serviceable to take on the road this weekend!!!

That’s cool. I love the 0-6-0 configuration. What scale is it?

Very nice.

I’m still kicking myself for not buying one or two of those when the price was down to $70. I let Cris talk me out of it, and then they were gone.

1:20.3 Nominally......

VERY NICE!

Did you add any weight to it so it can pull more thatn its own tender?

I have what I consider the very last 1/20 Bantaworks wood cab conversion kit for my Indy, but I need to add weight (alot of it) to it when I do the cab conversion, so I’m curious if you did anything else to it.

Looking good Bart. I can see where it would be tough to cram much into that tender. The coal bunker works

Keep an eye on eBay. They come up often. I picked up a NIB Indy a few months ago for about $70 + shipping, and then when I told the seller it was a repack he refunded me 10% without asking. Nice guy.

Bart,

That’s a little dandy! Nice lines and the coal bunker is reminiscent of the N&W. I think it would look excellent in POC livery. You can send it here for extended testing if you wish.

Man, everytime I’ve looked for them on ebay, idiots have bid them up far in excess of their worth.

I finally decided to paint her in standard company colors, and give her the road number 111. She’s now assigned as the switcher for Pearce Yard.

She has the tractive effort to sort cuts of hoppers as needed, and her dimunitive stature gives her the clearance to squeeaze into places the larger locos can’t, like the car shops…here she is with a freshly shopped boxcar and one of the conspicuous Port Lavender Reefers…

Looking good. Seems like the Big Sandy Valley got all the good weather this weekend. It was pretty gloomy here today. The sun broke out for a few minutes, but none of that beautiful October sky like you had.

WE had the same weather here as the the Big Sandy. Beautiful fall day.

Good job on the loco Bart.

Looks good. I like the tall coal bunker.

If you decide the crew needs a bit more room I still have a couple spare Aristo c-16 cabs. Not as nice as the Banta but much better than the Hawaii #5 (2-4-2) cab that B’mann reused

Hey - I like that Hawaii #5 cab. I’ve ridden it in
