WTB little LGB tippers

I found this lil LGB at the train show for $10 and I’d like to get 2 more.
Does anyone have a few of the red ones kicking round collecting dust in their collection?

Thanks, Todd

I just saw some for sale on eBay, not cheap, in the $40-$50 range, I feel that is high, but that’s where the price is today. $10 was a great price, looking for more at that price will be hard to find.

Todd;

Not an exact match, but Hartland Locomotive Works made kits for a tip dump car that were very similar. A few kits may still be floating around, unbuilt, at a very reasonable price. The tip bodies are a rust color, but one can always paint them.

Just a thought, David Meashey

Dave has a good point. I have a consist of 6 of each, painted and weathed, look fine together. They are different sizes, but that is OK with me. Out of production, but G Scale Junction used to have some.

Jerry

I saw one on Ebay at $35 plus shipping and that is too much in my mind.
I’m going to stick with the LGB style.
Thanks guys. I think a few more will eventually come along at a good price. I can be patient.

I have a set of tippers made from Faller eTrain hoppers on those steel chassis.

The only advantage is that you can find the steel chassis under several LGB wagons, and buy them cheap. The Faller tippers are even cheaper!

Those look great Peter.

do the blue tipping mecanisms still work when using LGB chassis?

I think so - though they are in FL and I am back in MD. The mechanism was a lever that stuck out sideways with an activator that protruded downwards and was hit by a piece on the tipping track.

Note that the biggest issue was gluing the plastic Faller tipper to the nylon (?) LGB frame.

I still have a couple of Faller tippers - black D&RGW - if you want to experiment. I’ll never use them.
