I am working on putting together an ‘oil can’ train of all the ‘Gramps’ tanks cars that ran on the D&RGW. If interested in selling yours, please PM me.
Thanks, Bob C.

Bob: there are about 7 or 8 Bachmann Gramps Tanks cars listed on Ebay with Buy it not pricing of between $25.00 and $30.00 with free shipping. I dont think you will find a better price than that, even on here.
Dan
Pricing is not everything. I do not do PayPal, and it seems most sellers want PayPal. I will persevere Dan, and am not in a real hurry.
you might want to check with them to see if they take Credit Cards. I have purchased from a number of dealers on ebay that just use Paypal to process CC transactions. You don’t have to have a Paypal account to do that.
I recently got a awesome deal on seven AML 1:20.3 Framed Tank Cars unlettered that were missing couplers for 21.00 each. These things normally sell for about 150.00 each. I used my CC and it was processed through Paypal.
If I ever fully switch over from 1:22.5 to 1:20.3 I have 2 and maybe 3 Gramps cars that will be available as well as several others with and without markings.
I still have some High side gondolas, Pipe Gons, Falt cars and Cattle cars yet to get before I switch completely.

Not doing PayPal is soooo last century …

That’s me! Sooo last century. I tried it for awhile, but disapproved of their policies…
But, of course I still remember sending a SASE to get stuff…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)
Guys, Paypal is a very good, safe way of paying by credit card. The seller never sees your card number so it is very secure. Paypal doesn’t charge you.
Just don’t give PayPal a bank account number!
I’ve been buying stuff for years that way.
Andrew and Pete,
NOT doing PayPal is absolutely secure for me. Had a PayPal account years ago. Closed the bank account it was linked to. Tried to re-establish with another bank account and now they REQUIRE copies of SSN and DL…totally sufficient for ID theft. Listening to how some folks have been treated by PayPal/eBay, I have NO intention of providing that information in a hard copy to folks I don’t trust. I have gone around with them on the phone, and they claim it is a requirement of a banking law, but will never provide me the statute number so I can read it. One would think if it was law, they would know which one it is, and be able to provide the requested information.
In case you haven’t done so lately, you might aught to read the latest terms of service, you might be surprised at what you find. If I can’t deal directly with the seller in good faith, then I don’t need their product. And considering eBay has make it near impossible to sell and then pay the ‘fees’, eBay is nice for reference, but I don’t shop there. I usually get better deals in person anyway, eBay sellers seem to think everything is gold plated lately. In my opinion both PayPal and eBay have gotten way too big for their britches and I can do quite fine without either one of them. Plus, buying privately I don’t pay their outrageous fees.
Dan, please pay attention to the listings on eBay. Most all of the ‘25 dollar’ range listings for Bachmann ‘Gramps’ tank cars are for HO scale cars. It took me a few minutes to resolve that. The Bachmann ‘G’ scale cars are tank on flat car with archbar trucks. NOT the real deal. The HO listings, even though Bachmann, are the more correct framless tank on the more modern cast truck (can’t remember the proper name for them).
I am sure there will be folks here who will answer, and from other trusted sources as well. When I pay folks, like folks I have dealt with on LSC, I pay with a Postal Money order, which should be near as good as cash. (If you take the trip to the Post Office, it is as good as cash.)
Just the opinion of an old curmudgeon.

Bob,
In your thread heading you stated " WTB Bachmann ‘Gramps’ (Big Hauler)"
The Big Hauler tank car is 1:22.5 scale #88493 and is a tank on flat car. Perhaps you are looking to buy the Spectrum line tank car #93445 which is frameless.
Your are correct Joe, the Spectrum is a framless car and the correct configuration for the ‘Gramps’ UTLX cars. However, I already have 7 (thought I had 10) of the Big Hauler cars. I am trying to fill out the 14 numbers associated with the ‘Gramps’ cars. I am practicing the 10 foot and one blind eye rule of large scale. That was what I was referring to above responding to Dan in regards to eBay. At some point in time I may buy/build some 1:20 scale framelsee cars for the RR, but for now this is the path I am taking. I feel they will look fine behind a Connie double header.
Bob C.
Bob, I had gone back and checked the ebay listings about the gramps cars and they were all G-Scale that i was refering too. however I see now that you were actually wanting the 1:20.3 spectrum versions and not the big haulers. I would love to have a string of 10 of those myself, but have not been able to afford them. however I did get a real steal on 7 of the framed gramps style 1:20.3 spectrum cars from a guy on ebay for 21.00 each. they were missing couplers and were silver in color with no markings. but with a new paint job and decals and adding couplers that I already had, I will have a string of 7 to pull behind my Connie. Hope you find the cars you need.
Dan.
