WTB: Aristo Ditchlights - Original or Repo-Castings

I know the odds of this are SLIM, but if I don’t ask…

I’m looking for a pair of the ditchlights off the Aristo DASH-9. I need one set for a project, which I just recieved the “fodder” for yesterday, but I really don’t want to end up scrapping out my last DASH-9. (Thats supposed to be the “A” unit for my XD-95-HTE, a model of a Post-Conrail-era Hydrogen-Turbine-Electric rebuild, ala the UP 8500hp series turbines.)

So, if anyone has a D9 that has been scrapped out (with the price of the motor blocks, hey it could happen?) and is willing to part with the ditchlight fixtures, PLEASE let me know.

Or, if this is an option, you have the ability to make molds from parts and are willing to whip up a bunch of these, let me know. Since I need a bunch for all my projects, this might actually be a preferred way to go.

Thanks much.

If you can use USA SD70’s ditch lights they are available through USA Trains. Part Number R22-615. Aristo’s are definitely ouy of stock.

Derrill, I had considered that, but the primary build needing these MUST use the DASH-9 ones… go figure, when retrofitting an EMD F-9A with ditchlights, Norfolk Southern used the ditchlight casting primarily used on General Electric DASH-8-9 and GEVO units.

Sorry I do not get on as much as I should…me-bad.

Is 220801-29512, the HOLY GRAIL that you seek?

It took me longer to find the piece of paper with my Login-in/PW

than to find the plastic bag what was looking up at me with the DL’s.

Shoot me a PM/message-in-a-bottle with your snail-mail location.

Ray, if you jump over to the thread I started in the “Modelling” forum, I have a closeup of the OCS power that shows you the ditchlight style I need.

I ran that part number @ Aristo, with no success, but the last five are the number for the package deal aristo has to sell their ditchlights. My problem is, before I buy, I want to know whats in that package, and no one except Aristo has them so I can’t get a picture.

OK - I found the modeling posting - To me it seems close for the "GUM DROP"

body around the LED. Clearly the base box will have to be lost.

There are 2 of the housings in the bag AND they are NOT clones of the other.

There is a Left and Right shape to the base box and there are different tabs

to hold/attach to the front porch floor.

From the bottom square base to the top of the lip (LED base edge) is ~4mm.

It is ~7mm at the top and ~8mm across at the base of the GUM DROP.

There are 2 ears @ 3+9 o’clock that are ~.5mm

AC does have the parts in stock. Some times folks depend to much on the computer instead of a simple phone call. Call Dr Navin. Later RJD

Actually RJ, I was just hoping to find them cheaper than AC.
