I think I want a crimper like that! Is the sheet metal or beer aluminum beverage cans it crimps?. I like the progress and how things are looking Dan.
Pete, I’m using steel shim stock. I think it’s 0.002 or 0.003. I get it from McMaster Carr. Beverage cans would work also but I don’t use them because they are a pain in the rear to cut up and I prefer my beer … ahhh, ummmm … cold drink in a bottle or a highball glass (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
Finally made some visible progress today. Its not that I haven’t been working on it this past week, just not in a way so’s you could notice (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)Been pre-occupied with a new modeling toy (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
Today I got flatcar assembled and floored. Anybody seen my clamps …
Got the trestle bents assembled …
And mocked up the final assemblies …
Still much to do
Nice work! Very clean and neat assembly. You gonna get Devon to put the bolts on it?

Hell no … he can’t follow a straight line and he blames it on you (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
I resemble that remark
Jim, you’ll get a kick out of this … remember you pointed out in my 3D model that I had placed the cross braces incorrectly … well, I corrected them in the model, but …
I caught it as soon as I snapped the picture and fixed it before the glue dried … you just can’t fix stupid (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)
Classic!

I think I am going to have to make a rule for myself: “Every hobby purchase must be accompanied by a clamp purchase.”
Eric, I generally buy a clamp(s) every week. When I get a 20-30% coupon from Harbor Freight, I go buy a clamp or two. Clamps are like money … more is always better (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

So I am discovering!
A fella told me years ago that clamping was a hobby within the hobby like wiring or scenery building or etc, etc.

Rick, I hadn’t thought of that way, but I must say I agree 100%. I use clamps a lot of times just as another hand or twelve (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
In between admiring all the other build threads, I have been putting in a little work on my fuel tank. I think I have everything built except for the door to the pump house and the pump house is the only thing that doesn’t have a coat of paint. I still have a lot of weathering and detailing to do like piping and hardware for the flatcar and trestle. Nothing is tied down at the moment but I will eventually mount it all on some type of substrate and hopefully get around to adding dirt and other accessories.
looking good
Nice. I especially liked the way you painted the oil barrels.
Definitely mount the whole build on something and throw some dirt on!
Dan,
That is really, really cool!
Eric
Thanks, John. I hope you won’t be disappointed, but I have since painted them the final colors although not weathered (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)
Thanks, Eric. I wish I had access to your work crew, they would have enjoyed painting all these barrels (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
