Wow! What a neat station

This is the Point Of Rocks, MD Station. Wouldn’t that make a good modeling project?

Yes, its one of the B&O’s best. A club member lives 5 minutes away from it -

Wow, that’s really beautiful!

Is it still used as a station or has it been turned into something else.? Nice to see it’s still around.

Yes, its still in use by CSX, and as a MARC commuter line station. Its also a great railfanning spot.

Always been a favorite of mine. Dad at one time scaled out drawings (they were in either MR or RMC at one point) to build one for his railroad, even went so far as to work out the various pieces of styrofoam for each of the wall sections. Never got past that point, though the station he’s working on now is a derivative of those plans.

Sure would be neat, but that brickwork’s gonna be a bear!

The last one I visited was the station in Ellicott City, MD. Though not as interesting architecturally(sp?) it’s supposed to be the oldest train station in the US. They have a nice museum, though not very extensive, but some nice displays.

Look at all that detail!

They don’t build them like that anymore.

My favorite is the one at Thurmond, WV

Works out to just about 8 feet long in 1:20. Its on my long list of projects, going to build it as a half-flat to go against a wall.

Bob, that’s so narrow you could almost build it as a 3/4 flat to allow a little sight over the peak and the implied depth that would give.

Here is one of my favorites in Durrand,Mi. I believe tracks used to run on both sides of the station as well as having tracks intersect on both sides. Ralph Ralphhttp://

Jon: Yea, I might go a bit behind the peak, to allow the side windows to be full. I really would like to model the whole thing, but, damn, that back porch and railings and supports? Holy cow!
