Large Scale Central

WOW, what a day!

The fog I was looking for a week ago was on the menu today, but only in the valley where there’s track but no trains. GRRRR.

The rest was brilliant sunshine and there were four coal trains inside one hour. IOW I got my fill with the first three and didn’t really need the fourth one.

Had a nice chat with the conductor of the WB coal train - they had to let two empty EB coal trains through before they could roll again.

As usual there were simultaneous EB and WB trains; no problem I had both cams set up and it will make for some interesting cross cutting at the one location.

The second two cam location was the horseshoe curve on Notch Hill with an over-length grain unit train.

The icing on the cake; when I dropped by the hobby shop in Salmon Arm he had the Spring and Summer Annuals along with the current Gazette. He threw in two older Gazettes that I haven’t read yet either. I’m all set since I didn’t order additional books. Besides, it will take me a few hours to process all the video.

First of yesterday’s harvest

It was busy.

That was impressive. The lighting on the first train, flashing between the cars, was almost surreal, the way it played along the track side weeds and greenery and fell into and out of synchrony with the signal bell. Hypnotic.

Thank you Cat,

Right after shooting my friend was raving about the stills he shot on the west side of the train - the sunny side. I grinned and asked him “So how was the sound … and the light and shadow show?”.

Different strokes for different folks. Or … we all see the world in a slightly different light.

The opening shot for the next one in still format. (http://www.rhb-grischun.ca/phpBB2/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif)(http://www.rhb-grischun.ca/phpBB2/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif)

Hahaha! That one was amusing, the way the bell sound cut in and out as the containers blocked it. You could predict how many dong-dongs you would hear by watching the light-gaps between the cars, and when the last one cleared the crossing, the bell sound went back to normal.

I don’t know why, but i just like stuff like that.

Shades of the 60’s and 70’s, from the little that I remember. (http://www.freerails.com/images/emoticons/gerg.gif)(http://www.freerails.com/images/emoticons/cool-smiley-021.gif)(http://www.freerails.com/images/emoticons/Thumb%20up.gif)

In 1976, I took one of my friends sailing, just off Camp Pendleton, CA, at night. There was a great bioluminescent light show put on by the little critters in the water. I remarked to my friend something like, “How do you like the light show from the bioluminescence?” He looked at me, confused, then relieved, and said, “You mean that is real? I thought I was hallucinating again!” (http://www.freerails.com/images/emoticons/clown_125.gif)
