With all the excitement about the new Roundhouse loco, we seem to be in the mood to consider new ideas. There are many beautiful locomotives possible, although not that many still exist and even fewer are operational. But one such example of a splendid looking operational locomotive of British make is the Isle of Man Peacock 2-4-0`s still pulling daily trains. I had a pleasure to spend holidays there in Port Erin a few years ago and ever since I kept wishing for some nice 15mm models of the locomotives and rolling stock. This seems to be closer than ever, as Accucraft UK is just about to release the beautiful IoM coaches, and the IoM 2-4-0 locomotives have already been made in a few versions - but unfortunately for me, not in live steam … So this is my question, is anyone else interested in the live steam version of the 2-4-0 IoM Peacocks or even 0-6-0 Caledonia? If so, please write to Mr Pearse of Accucraft UK and let him know as I already did myself. http://www.accucraft.uk.com/contact.php It is very well possible that the IoM loco could be made in live steam, but evidently the best way to make sure of this is to express your support for this project directly to Accucraft UK! This by the way holds for any other project. If there is enough people wishing for a new model - I am sure that this model will be made if we can organise ourselfs and convince the manufacturer. In the case of Accucraft I am pretty positive since it would not be the first successful initiative of this kind for me - the Mason Bogie which I proposed some time ago at MLS is actually in final stages of development!! Best wishes from Tokyo, Zubi
