Who/what/Where?
Marty Cozad?
Fairplex in CA?
Jens Bang?
I’m really just wondering–who has the biggest “G” scale railway, and how big is it?

Add to the challenge list The Living Desert outdoor railroad in Palm Desert, California.
How big? I don’t know the amount of track. I do know the trestle alone is 220 feet long of track as it circles over itself connecting between two bluffs.
The Living Desert layout is in the Living Desert Museum on Portola just south of the main highway running from Palm SPrings down through Palm Desert.

I heard there’s a guy in Phoenix with a huge layout that was on the tour during this year’s GR convention.
I read in GR a few years back about a huge public layout over in Europe. Switzerland, maybe???
During the San Diego Convention, there was a pretty good sized one on that tour.
SwissMiniatur near Logano.
3500m of track…can Rick beat that?

This railroad by Rick, in Arizona, reputably cost several million dollars. Note lots and lots of photographs so you really need broadband to view.
WOW!
That’s the one he tried to do the “world’s longest model train” on. It’s big alright.
So far it looks like Fairplex is the winner, in terms of linear footage of track. But I would think you’d have to consider not just linear feet, but size overall. I downloaded a pdf of Jens Bang’s railway and it has a grand scale and appears to be huge, even though it has less track than Rick’s project
Jen’s RR is quite a sight to behold. Where did you find the .pdf?

Thanks, I had forgotten about that article.
Ahem, Rick’s wonderful railroad has 3800 feet of track overall.
The Swissminiatur railroad has 3500 METERS - that’s 11,375 feet.
No contest.

Any photos?

As I understand it there are 16 separate 1/25th scale trains running on 4 kilometres of track at Madurodam in Holland.
I can’t believe the US of A is getting snookered by a bunch of socialist Europeans!
The Swiss miniatures site has a little over 2.1 miles of track–although are there any trains at the swiss site? I looked as well and could only see buildings.
Tony’s site in Holland, Madurodam, has just over 2.4 MILES of track–reportedly. There are no pictures of track or trains on their website. Puzzling
It looks like the title goes to Madurodam, although our judges find the lack of trains disturbing
Well, Mike, maybe it was their day to clean the track…
Maybe the trains are not so important to those pesky Europeans seeing as they are so common there in real life.
The planes that taxi around the Madurodam “airport” are pretty impressive too. Big suckers.
