World of Wierd Multiple Dome Tank Cars

In my quest to find examples of multiple dome narrow gauge cars I came across some rather unusual examples in standard. Since most of the NG cars were SG on narrow gauge trucks anything is possible.

I like this one. Thinking I could swing that model using BD’s idea of two framed Spectrums bashed together.

A pair of wine cars. Used for “vinegar” quality wines. The different compartments were to keep purchases from different vineyards separate. I am not sure if that was for accounting or quality purposes.

Modern four domes or inlets. One of you standard gaugers will have to explain what these cars are carrying.

Here is another one I really like. Two dome frameless.

I also like this one. The center dome is probably the original and the other two added later when the car was compartmentalized? I’m guessing. It also looks like it sits higher.

These flat mounted tanks on the White Pass look like they are cut from a three dome car.

And finally a vinegar car. I believe we have discussed this one on LSC before.

My last thought on doing a two dome is that I have a loose AMS tank and a spare unlettered AMS flat mounted tank car. It would be easy to bash those two together. Have to think about this. I am not real excited about doing another tank car project right now. Plus I have 10 framed single domes to decal and weather.

Fantastic photo compilation, Boomer.

I’m partial to the last one, being a wood tanker. But all of them are a great history lesson and overview.

I built mine domeless, as it was intended as a travelling water supply (but really I was daunted at how to make the dowel rod “dome”" look right).

Looking at the vinegar tanker I would guess the compartments can be for different types of, or different customers , or combinations with it all from one distillery
