While browsing a music site, I came across these train videos.
Anyone had the chance to view any of these ? I’d like to know if they’re any good before plunking down any cash.
I’ve seen some awful train videos over the years :open_mouth:

Hey Ralph -

If you’re running short on train videos to watch, I still have a bunch of VHS tapes from my late neighbor that I’ll probably never watch.

If I come to York I’ll bring another box. Ralph - you got all the first-pass rejects (endless cab ride series). The ones I have left are a little better :slight_smile:

My neighbor had a young border for several years. He would make the kid sit and watch those for hours on end. Somewhat like torture I think.

I have seen and enjoyed several of them on Public Television. I bought The Royal Canadian Pacific and The American Orient Express at a train show. They have good picture and sound quality.

Can’t be worse than the $120 California Dreaming 6 video tape series. Hours and hours of LGB Moguls running in circles with the same horn toot at the same places. ARRRGH!

Oooh, I feel your pain. When I did the video for the '94 garden railway convention, it seems [i]everybody[/i] wanted to feature their mogul. I was hearing that sound in my sleep! After the convention, my parents and I rode the Durango & Silverton. I stepped off the train in Silverton, and what did I hear??? Dadgummed toystore a block away had one running around the the front of their building!

Therapy helped, but I still get a nervous twitch just thinking about it.

Why is it that most of these train films have to have the whistle blowing in every scene? I have to turn the sound off just to watch.

I used to do the same thing and was amazed at how much more I noticed about the trains, buidings, and scenery without the noise distraction.

World Class Trains…The Rocky Mountaineer
Vancouver to Banff

Watched the DVD today. This video is very professionally done. Lots of cameras, even aerial photography. Pretty much produced “Travel Channel” style, with local culture and history thrown in. Fantastic scenery.

I just got Netflix on a trial version. Found this series available for instant view or DVD from Netflix.
