Working Hard

Guys, I’m working so very hard to not reply to some of this stuff. Yes, I have an opinion about most of what you say, and I get pisssed by what some of you say, but I can pretty well guarentee that half of you will not like my opinion, my answer or what I say. I read through it looking for something that is “Off Topic”, but not inflammatory. The worse part is that I can’t help but check out any subject that has “NEW” posted alongside it. It just keeps staring at me with that bright yellow sign saying look at me, PLEASE. Drives me nuts.

Is there any possibility of having a subject posted in the “Off Topic” portion of this site, that is not political and may be regarding a subject that a civil conversation can be shared with many people I call friends?

And yes, I have read the disclaimer, but this is a large scale model railroad site. Wouldn’t you think sometimes, “Off Topic” meant HO or N scale?

Ric, unfortunately the only way we can get divisive politics banished is to have an all out barney with character assassinations such that Bob is embarrased into banning the three taboo subjects altogether.
I’ve been doing my best to stir it up without getting involved in domestic USA politics.
We have enough BS politics rammed down our throats every day without having to put up with the same BS here.

How’s this Ric?

Marvin,

That is just peachy!

Am I allowed to ask if you looked in the mirror?

Mine's a scrap metal gondola. Battered and full of rusty iron. The axle bearings are pretty rickety, too, and the couplers have a hard time staying connected. :(

I must be the stock car. Every time they come to check me out they find me full of bull sh*t…! :stuck_out_tongue:

No, I saw your photo and have seen your writings…that was enough…{8>P

Ric

I was going to put a Cheech & Chong skit about Santa & his Old Lady, but upon review, I feel it a bit overboard.

Yeah, I don’t blame you.

Well guys with each of you finding a representative piece rolling stock for yourselves; I’m left with only the end of train to represent me.
So, it’s either the van (Caboose for the uninformed) or the good old “Fred”, ("F"lashing "R"ear "E"nd "D"etector) but no-matter what you call it; it looks like I’m the “Horses’ Ass”…!!!

Hey Ric, you forgot about Z scale! On one of the German LS fora the admin - on request, no less - created a Winzbahn-Ecke (TinyTrain-Corner). Since I like a bit of variety, and we also produce “stuff” for Z-scale, I’m in the process of building a 12" by 12" Z display (static - as in nonmoving  )

Since I didn’t really like some of the Z track and the better looking stuff wasn’t available, I decided to use some Kappler ties on edge and ME Code40 rail and handlay the track.

Since I had some tiny ME spikes on hand I figured I’d use them to secure the track at the edge of the display and use contact cement for the rest. Well the spikes are on the “too large” side and I don’t wan’t to find out how small the Z scale spikes are - if anyone makes them.

I guess the Kadee couplers are a bit larger than scale, too, but that’s one of the compromises. As is the brakewheel on that SP box, but I’ll fix that.

Save the wrist watch!

Don’t worry, I leave that to the “experts” and “professionals”.

It’s obvious…You don’t have a clue what I was talked about… do you?

Of course not, that’s why I added the generic, noncommital < I leave that to the “experts” and “professionals”>, seems to fit quite a few situations.

As for the rolling stock, I’d have to take the flat car, load it on as much as you wnat but if you don’t secure it, it will just fall off along the way.

“Save the wristwatch” - have you seen the Jeff Foxworthy skit about the cell phone wrist watch that got lost during the exam? Funny, really funny.

Who Jeff Foxworthy? (Obviously, I haven't seen the skit) :)

No, I missed that one. “Save the Wrist Watch” is a term to indicate when the Bullsh*t has gotten too deep and you must hold the wrist watch in the air to prevent possible damage.

Well, I have you know that my summer tan - from stirring the b…t - is way above my elbow.
And the wrist watch is water resistant to 100m; since my arms aren’t that long I’ll be OK. (I think  :/)

I can't wear a wrist watch and be comfortable. Doesn't matter what kind of strap. These days I have a pocket watch hanging off a carabiner clip on a belt loop.
