Work Shop Floorplan

Hi all,

Like you claiming to have a workshop . Where’s the work ? Mike

To satisfy Mike M’s curiosity here’s the floor plan.

Approx. floor space 4m x 5m (13ft x 16ft); the saving grace is the high ceiling in the garage. Without that it would be “a little cramped”.

Hans ,
Very nice , but what I meant was —how’s about showing us your finished models ? Last I saw was lengthening an LGB carriage .

What you mean and what you write are very often two different matters. :)

Just imagine plenty of projects on Workbench 1, 2 and 3; all of them being worked on. If that isn’t good enough for you; too bad!

You know, I havent been terribly productive for about 9 months, starting last January or so, but nobody complained or questioned my modeling ability. I dont get it.

Funny I was thinking the same thing…Bruce stolt my Mojo at York last year…I was updating my webpages last week, and noticed lotta stalled projects…going on darn near a year…I have done lots of modeling, just not of the RR variety…but ya wouldn;t know it from my online presence…How many of us don’t even have a layout? Or just dream…does that mean we don’t have anything to contribute? Yep that tank car I started laast April is still on the bench…but then again…so is the Cardmodel of the destroyer escort I started just a few weeks ago…not to mention the dozen or so aircraft and spacecraft I’ve got in the works…just need little things done to be finished…

Whats the problem?

I know I’m in the same boat. If I were to finish all the modeling projects I’ve started I think the earth would come to an end… I’ve probably got 5 locomotives in pieces and so many cars awaiting wheels, couplers or other repair that I hardly have enough to make up a train…:frowning: My goal for 2007 is to remedy some of that situation. I’ve actually found the top of my work table…so that’s a good start…! Of course retirement helped in the “I now have enough time” department…

Warren,

I thought that was your junk box. I’m sorry, I misunderestimated you!

The problem is that when someone starts off a project and puts it on the site , it would be nice to see some progress . If you look at my other post on the subject , you’ll see what I mean . (See 27.01.07 , General Discussion , AMS 1/29 cars…)
I also have quite a few projects on the go , but am working on the last two that I put on the site so’s anyone interested can see how they are coming along .
Regrettably , Hans has a reputation for never having finished a model . So people pull his leg . Hence my other post about learning to have a sense of humour . He also blames my bad English for his wrong reply . I didn’t ask him for a workshop plan .
I on the other hand have no objection at all when I am asked to provide pictures . It encourages everyone if they see others displaying their work , warts an’all .

Mike,

If I would never have finished a model … hmmmmmmmmmmmm I think I would have been out of business a very long time ago.
Now if you were to write “Hans has never shown us one of his finished 2m models” that would be a completely different story. But neither here nor on any other forum I know of is in the rules: “Thou shall show steady progress on your projects!”

Now apart from that, there is the matter of showing pictures of items which later will or may be published in print. There have been plenty of instances with certain people harping that they’ve seen all of it on the Internet already. Interestingly among the harpers are those who clamour the loudest for pictures.
Won’t happen with my stuff.

If you can’t accept that I don’t need to prove what my finished models look like, then that is your problem.

BTW, my models have warts, too. On that D 4016 Baggage there’s a flaw in the roof, difference is you can’t tell unless you read the complete write-up.

Wow, deja vu! I've seen this same issue in my other hobby, high power rocketry. People clamor to see projects posted online, and then complain that everything in the hobby mags has already been on the 'net.

Hans , did you write "Hansel and Gretel " too ? It’s another good fairy story .
