Large Scale Central

Work extra and night shoot on the AV

I decided late this afternoon that it was finally cool enough to sit outside and watch trains. Between heavy rains a few weeks ago, the midget mafia and a few cats, my ballast is half gone in places, and the track is no longer level, soooooo, the obvious (only?) choice for motive power was ‘old reliable’ #6.

Just for something different, I got out the flat with the TD-24, and the RPO, and decided it was a work extra…

Wait a minute something isn’t right here…

The rpo came uncoupled while I was inside getting a beer. #6 would shove the rpo right along on the upgrades and level, then the car would run away on the downgrades. After a couple laps like that I stopped laughing long enough to fix it. Now I know you CAN shunt with a snowplow… go figure.

I found out my camera had a night mode the other day (see what happens when you read the manual?), so I just had to play with it…

Running trains don’t cooperate with 5 second exposures. a slow trundle looks like warp 5…

Thanks for looking!

Great pictures Mik!!! I love the night shots.

Kim loves sitting outside at dusk watching the (solar) lights in the houses come on one by one. Makes the dogs nuts because they can’t figure out how it works.

Good stuff. You need a big shade tree so you can run in the hot weather. I just got three bachmann lighted passenger cars im in the proces of repainting. 2 of them I got for free. I figured they would work nice running them in the evening.

The layouts really filled in nicely, looks great.

Mik,
that looks really loverly!

if you want to get rid of the “glowing” roof, glue some alu-foil to the inside of the roof.

Mik;

Great photos. I want to try to mount a Kadee to one of those plows. It is somewhere way down on my “to do” list. Have to finish the armored locomotive it goes on first. . . Oh well, maybe someday.

The railroad is really looking good dispite the problems you mentioned at the beginning of your post.

Best wishes,
David Meashey

Mik,

How did you put the solar lights in your buildings? My wife and I are starting to put our buildings out and want to do the same thing.

Chuck

Korm, I have furnace tape here. It’s on my list.

Funny how the camera notices it ‘glows’ (and at least 2 other buildings, too) more than your eyes do…

Looks real nice Mik.
It looks like a fun a fun time on the old railroad.
It still looks great. Nice work.
