Wireless DCC

I am thinking of going Track powered wireless DCC. I was told in an e-mail from American Hobby Distributors that the NCE GWIRE cab and the CVP T9000E Throttle were both command stations I was thinking this setup would work.

NCE GWire Cab or CVP T9000E throttle
CVP RX904G1 Receiver
CVP SZB7 Booster (7amp)
3rd party decoders
What do you think? I don’t need more than 7 amp because I have a small layout and will only run no more than 2 small consists at a time.
Any comments or suggestions ?
Thanks
Richard

The new products (the G2 board) currently has some programming issues with the Gwire Cab…

The G1 does not…

what is the 7 amp booster about? You only need DC track power…

If you are going track power, why not go REAL DCC and not have any compatibility issues, or limit yourself to the CVP configuration.

Get a regular track power DCC system (many to choose from) with wireless throttles and you can pick from ANY DCC decoders you want.

It’s also cheaper in the long run.

You could get a 5 amp NCE system, or a Digitrax.

Wow, Greg and I actually agree on something! If you’re going track power, there’s no need for the Airwire stuff. That’s specifically designed for battery-powered installations.

One clarification, though. My understanding is that the Airwire G1 board does have some programming inconsistencies with the NCE controller, primarily the loco address. I’ve only tried using the NCE to program the G2 board(unsuccessfully), so I’m relying on others’ experiences with the G1, but the folks I’ve heard this from are long-time Airwire users. Once programmed, though, the NCE controller is a fantastic interface to control the Airwire boards. (I much prefer it to the T-9000 controller. In fact, I prefer the older Airwire RF1300 controller to the T-9000 as well.)
