Large Scale Central

Winter stuff...........

I’ve forgone the stucco/adobe look. Couldn’t quite get it the way I wanted it to look. Tough to scale 1/1 sand down to 1/24, Looked like rocks in the stuff. So I’m going with the old tried and true method. Plastruct veneer in brick on the front and sides and stone blocks on the back wall. Not to mention it’s a whole lot less messier…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Thanks Bruce, that looks similar to the stuff I got. Just add it to a gallon of paint.

With screws I don’t have to wait for the glue to dry…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

With the brick veneer

Ken, I like the brick veneer much better than the stucco\adobe\whatever idea. Nice job on the weathering too.

I do too. Looks a bit more “industrial”…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Just have to weather the brick some.

Rather than cut up and add another strip of veneer to the top section, I cut the coroplast down to the level of the brick.

And started on a base for this thing to sit on.

Nice job Ken. I need to go back to the hobby store and get some of the brick veneer. It would come in handy for several things

I just order it directly from Plastruct, since there ain’t no hobby shops close by. And they usually don’t have what I’m looking for.

Now to add the details:

Have to figger out what to use for pipes on this thing.

Plastruct has some pipes in various sizes. Plus, I might still have some fittings and other bits - just let me know, I can get them to you!

Thanks, Bruce. I think Evergreen has those too.

I have some heavy duty wire I’m going to try. See what that looks like.

If you need fittings, I got a bunch here… Valves, corners, is about 8 different sizes…

I went with the thick black wire.

Once I get the decals on, it’ll be ready to go out on the layout. Just waiting on the cecal paper.

I have no idea what these places actually look like. I was just winging it. There’s a modern bulk off loading facility over in Avondale, with cat walks and other assorted equipment. I just kept this one simple.

Looks like it has all the necessities for use. Track area and business name. Looks great Ken (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Looks very nice, Ken. Where/when does it go outside???

Looks like a nice small town facility… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

New rail served industrial client, gotta love it. More money for the RR. Looks quite realistic to me, Ken. Job well done (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

It goes outside when there’s some half decent weather. Where it’s going is the spot that Delores Freight used to be before I moved all the service facilities and moved the freight house down towards Mathesons Cold Storage.

As I recall, that’s somewhere in West Grove, PA, right? (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)I remember SOME of the places WHEN I visit, but typically have to look at your track diagram to properly switch stuff. Even then…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)

Actually it’s in Delores, a suburb of West Grove…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)…Delores is next to the shed, the servicing facilities moved to the other side of the shed.

Well…us old codgers™ just can’t figure it out most of the time…but, at least we get to visit there for KenOPs…I suspect it should be out by then?

It’ll probably get placed out there sometime this week…good lord willin and the crik don’t rise.

Today would have a been a good day.

Putting the signage on it now.
