Large Scale Central

Winter running

Last weekend’s storm brought a solid blanket of icy snow (or snowy ice) to the layout, and entire property.

Consequently, trains have been running a bit slow… I’d have made a video but it would be kinda boring.

Anyone else in the same situation? Or running more successfully? Or actually plowing this concrete?

I don’t see any trains nor does it look like any came through? Suppose it should be winter pic and not winter running thread. But since it is what it is I’ll add to it right now!

There’s a railroad here somewhere…

That is a laser cut droid.

There are no Droids here.

Amtrak Yoda

You could place an At-AT in the snow looking for locomotives on the Hoth planet

That would involve going outside. Its currently 3f. Brrrrr.

At -17C it isn’t fit for man nor beast out of doors…throw in a steady 12KM breeze and anyone going out of doors to “Play” with a model railroad should seek help at their local mental health clinic, or be prepared to suffer frost bite or just plain freezing of certain parts of their bodies…!!
Stay in and join in on the still functional LSC Chatroom…you might find a long lost FRIEND or two there…!!

Bruce;

You have to watch those AT-ATs. Sometimes they can get hurt.

two feet of snow on my layout and no weather above thirty two degrees in sight

Even South Carolina managed to get some snow buildup. Pretty rare for our neck of the woods.

No trains running here, we have about 18 inches on the RR.

The deer are looking for the train unfortunately, mo damage to the track yet.

We got nothing but powder up here in Western MA. But, we got 20+ inches of it. A little too much for trains to run…

On my RR some of the crew is stranded down at the far station. It took them a few days of digging but they finally emerged into the Winter wonderland, more like an alien world. It will be a time before trains are running again and their supplies are dwindling with each passing day. We might have to fly a drone out to drop off a picnic basket or send a dog sled.

No, the crew abandoned train for warm shelter.

Here is another part known as Turtle Rock curve! https://youtu.be/pVXCHAwgdNw?si=i0giTmQKcJrPi3qL

Same here

No large scale track outside (yet) but I did grab this pic through the shop window. The Snow Moon rising over Orbisonia and the 1:1 tracks in my back yard!
