The Cumbres & Toltec climbs through some beautiful country on the 4% grade up from Chama to Cumbres Pass. At Windy Point the line clings to a narrow ledge as it twists and turns its way up the mountain. Here is a short video of the climb around Windy Point. There is a lot of wind noise – they call it Windy Point for good reasons – but you can still hear the K-36 working hard.
Nice. Looks like they have had some snow up on the mountain already.
That’s a very interesting video , the scenery is really attractive and tends to take your eyes away from the hard work required to cut a trackbed .
It’s funny how we enjoy the noise , (well , I do) . It’s as well that other means of transport do not impinge on our hearing in the same way.
Good video .
