Well you guys were right. No dealers for RC at th Show.
Well I’m too stupid to order the right tings on line.
If I could have taken my loco in showed them what I have, and maybe get them to hook it up for me.
That would be too good to be true though.
That’s why I set here in my stuper with no RC in my Forney, and the way it is going wont ever have RC in my Forney.
But my track is almost ready.
Thats why I’m only incharge of cleaning the outhouses…
Send Shawn an email. I’m sure he’d be willing to send you a list and a source for the parts you need.

Ralph there are plenty of links given for the parts he needs.
David for now just get a servo put on the Johnson bar. That will give you the control you need. If you can get out my way I can help you get it hooked up. We can hit my local hobby town for the servos ect… if you dont want to order online
Dave here are the links for what you need.

you need a battery pack but I think you have one that will work.
I have a battery pack.
I used the links above and gave it a shot.
I ordered a transmitter and 2 servos.
I don’t know about using the johnson bar for throteling. that is not how it was designed to be used,
that could cause problems down the road.
I hope I got it rght.
Thanks for your help Shawn.
Well Monday it is back to the track work, that is if the weather cooperates.
Jon thats a good idea, but there isn’t any RC car placeses in business any longer, that I know of around here
David Kapp said:Using the Johnson bar as the throttle will not hurt the engine. You will find you can get a finer adjustment that way. If you just want to use one servo I would hook it to the Johnson bar. Then you can control the speed and direction.

It’s not the engine that I was concerened about but the valve on the end of the Johnson bar. It’s not made to be a throtle valve.
Well any way.
I got my radio and 2 servoes today.
By next year I should get it hooked up.
David Kapp said:David it wont hurt it. I have mine hooked up to the Johnson bar with no problems. Most people do the same.

you know gate valves arent mrnt to throtle, they use globe valve to do that.
Oh well. my tracks readyit will prolly wash out before I get ready to run.
David - the valve for the reverser is the same valve on the cylinders for the timing, a simple piston valve. Using it as a throttle is simply cutting off the inlet pressure and opening the outlet. There is no more wear or abuse if you use it as a throttle vs johnson bar only. Due to the actual throttle being a very coarse adjustment you are better off using the reverser as a throttle. It would not work though if it was an actual correct valve gear. I have a Mogul that is RC on the Jbar only. Its about 8 years old and has more time that I even know of as I got it with the RC installed used.
Ok. If you guys say it’s ok then it’s ok, but I don’t have it hooked up yet any way.
I have no idea what to do on this.

Dave if you plan on attending the cklub meeting at my place May 20th bring everything. We can prob get it hooked up.
Shawn
I did plan to attend in May.
I won’t be there this month, because it is opening day of trout on Saturday, and a group of us go out and make fools of our selves
that weekend. I hate to miss the fool making. It is usually a good time for most, if not all fools.
I suppose you guys want pics of thr results to.
I’ll think of something.
Well guess who forgot to take the camera. I did have a good time.
I did sneek down through the woods looking for the old railway bed.
It is surpriseing that you can see the old right of way in places.
